Garages to exit from and spawning based on your weapon/hull type and safety dependency

Recommended Posts

There have been plenty times where players just get spawned in and are instantly killed, it's frustrating. I think it would be much better if the game's play area was cleared and instead there would be garages from which players could spawn from, some could have old or futuristic designs based on the map. The demo for the game already has one, not sure why it hasn't been used in the proper game.

On top of that, garage selected would not be random, but selective for each player when they spawn and respawn. Lets say you have railgun as your weapon, the game would make sure that you are spawned as far away as possible from any enemy. In contrast, if you had freeze, you would spawn at a point where enemies are closest to, however also depending on your hull, so if it's a heavy hull, you would spawn at the closest one near an opponent, where as if you had a light hull, you would be somewhere in the middle, allowing you time to maneuver  around the enemies in base and getting to them from behind or away around them. But most of all, it would select what it thinks is the safest spawn point for you, so very close nearby mines would too affect this.

Wouldn't that make spawn-killing worse, since enemies will know you will drive out of a garage as opposed to spawning in one of 10+ locations on your base?

The idea is not that bad,

but it undoes itself. It says a railgun would spawn farther away from enemies-and if you have a freeze you spawn near enemies-so the benefit given to the railgun is undone by the advantage given to the freeze-creating the same distance.

Huh?

The purpose of it was to make spawn killing less common, where the garage selected is one that's least dangerous and most beneficial to the player to have. Supplies nearby, enemies, enemy mines, may be even allies if you are isida, being taken into account. Currently it's completely random, meaning half the time already, if enemy team is dominating, you will be spawn killed.

If there are as many garages in the map as there are spawn points for each player on each map right now, even some buildings acting as garages, that would be awesome. Besides, it would give the opportunity for players to change their equipment after cool-down every time they respawn instead of having to click garage before they respawn to avoid being self-destructed and gaining a loss.

What are you talking about? Do you mean that railgun would have advantage because they avoid an area with a lot of opponents? For a freeze it wouldn't be necessarily next to an enemy if one is near a garage, but in a place where the freeze could get to the enemy with them probably not knowing they are there, so, a building or a wall between them.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, but your forum doesn't have a post merge mechanic, nor do I have the ability to quote a person, reply, then edit and reply, only mutiquote and I never do that instantly, because the second time you quote, it will go down to the reply section instead of the post and if I try to cut-paste a quote, it will glitch out and work all weird and wonky. Might want to report that too, Maf.

I don't really see it as an improvement. Besides, I can't imagine how "excited" the developers would be at the idea of having to add 10 garages to every single map in the game using the glitchy Tanki map editor.

That's their problem, they made it. If each garage is its own collective entity, of which, they have already made a prototype in the demo, they should be just fine replacing basic spawn points with actual garages. Makes the game a bit more fluid and better looking in-game too. Always hated the spawn-in mechanic, it just looks so cheap and bizarre.

I'm not sure how you don't see deterministic spawning as an improvement. But garages themselves would mean players can't just place a mine underneath a player who just spawned, avoid being targeted and allow players to change equipment every time they respawn without trouble.

But it also means that Shafts could aim at an enemy garage, wait for a player to drive out and kill them. It would also mean that enemies can place mines in front of every garage entrance and the players will have no choice but to drive over the mines, compared to simply driving around them when they spawn in the open.

If they manage to mine every garage spawn point, perhaps. But does anyone actually mine all of the opponent base area just so players would step on them? I don't think so. As for shafts, the shaft can do the same already with certain spawn points, but they don't do that, do they? And in either case, if it happens to does become a problem, lets say, during test server time and it's very much prominent, then the best solution could be to have garages placed in a way that faces away from enemy base or have some sort of obstacles between one team's base and the spawn point.

I see how it is. It doesn't matter how ridiculous the idea is, you just want everyone to agree with you. Why I'll bet you'll try to make people believe that red was blue and blue was red.

My suggestion for you is to wake up and realize that not everyone is gonna take your side just because you told them to, everyone's got an opinion. It's called "LIFE". ;)

Anyway back on topic, this whole garage thing in battles is not going to work because enemies will see that someone is gonna come out of there and be ready for them while the players that just changed won't have any idea of what's gonna happen. And making the garage face away from enemy base isn't going to work either because they need to react on a dime and can't do that fast enough with their backs to the enemy.

I mean that besides for the obstacles-or straight paths-if a freeze is gaining that instead of spawning at 100ft it will spawn at 400ft (out of 1000)-but the railgun it is aiming for will spawn at 100ft instead of 400ft-so it will still have the same overall distance.

Yeah-but the enemy can never know your exact location where you spawn-and cannot mine the area-and hold their snipers there.

In CTF they want to give you a chance to stay alive at the base-instead of everyone coming to capture the flag would have an easy spawn kill. But if there is a specific spot where they spawn-spawn kills will skyrocket!
