Tanki server lag ( a new approach)

If this is in the wrong section, I'm sure someone will put it where it belongs.

This is far beyond my field of expertise, so please bear with me as I try to sure this with you.

I've been reading the forums of several games in regards to lag. It seems lag is not particular to just Tanki. It's a global problem that affects many games. The general consensus is that it's due to packet drop, which has nothing to do with the game itself and nothing can be done about it on the game side of the sent data.

Each packet contains a certain amount of data particular to the game. If even one packet is dropped (or lost in transit) then you will experience lag even though you fps and ping are within normal limits of the game.

Now, this is where I'm getting in a little over my head. So, if my terminology is wrong, maybe someone can make the mud a little clearer.

When the packets leave the game server, it goes through several servers (stopping points?) along the way. The more servers the packets have to pass through, the more chance of data being lost. Some of the game sites are suggesting downloading Kill Ping. It's a program (I hope that's the right word) that finds the most direct route for the packets to take, reducing the number of servers it has to go through, thus the less chance of lag with good fps and ping.

This link to YouTube explains how to use it.

Has anyone ever heard of it? I don't know if this would work for Tanki. Any thoughts from you geeks out there in cyber land?

EDIT: I found a better explanation. I know this is from another game, but it explains about the packet loss.

I'm trying to help, really I am.

Tldr: Complete scam.

Ping is based directly on your location and how close you are to Tanki's server, there are physical cables from your home to your ISP to the data centre which hosts Tanki's servers, the longer that cable is, the higher your ping will be.

Saying that downloading software will reduce your ping by routing it through a different way is like saying you can download RAM, its a physical impossibility, you need to lay new faster or shorter cables. If anything the software will increase your ping by placing yet another server in between you and Tanki.

Most of these services will be littered with fake reviews on every review site and forum, so be careful.
