I think that Tanki should add private servers to Tanki. What I mean by this, is essentially that tankers have the ability to rent out an entire "server" for themselves. Essentially this is just a set of 5 battles which can be viewed through a special "my server" section. That sounds quite lame, but I would hope these aren't ordinary servers. When buying out these servers, tankers get the option to go back to ANY time in the past of Tanki. For example if I really wanted to go back to Xmas of 2013, then I could select this as the time and everything would look and perform like it did then. The key difference would be that anything I buy on that server doesn't come to the real Tanki server but stays there. Furthermore, the shop gets modified according to the time, but the crystal and such prices don't change. Lastly, if I go to pre-rebalance, then my crystal count is divided by 10 for that particular server. I know that ideas regarding bringing back old features aren't accepted, but this isn't really bringing back, it's just a sort of "Time travel" for players wishing to go back to a certain time. Naturally, given that it'd probably take up loads of Tanki space, these servers could cost something like 500 USD (not exactly, I don't know what is and is not reasonable) per year. Lastly, you are limited to a time of 3 hours per day on the private server.

Valid

I'm sure I've seen this suggested before. We have a similar idea for hosting servers, but that serves a different purpose. I also know multiple other games which have this as a feature, so the suggestion is definitely realistic and fitting for Tanki.

This would be great...epic actually.  I'd rent a server for sure.  Call my a cynic, but I can't see Tanki implementing anything like this for several reasons.

First, it would draw players away from the main servers which would thin out the ranks of the already thinning player base for MM.

Second, it sounds very complex and involved to actually get it to function properly...maybe if there were like one or two static times, like one iteration around the time of the paint seperation and another just before MM was introduced.

Third, I don't think Tanki cares enough about their somewhat dissatisfied players to bother with something like this...I doubt there would be enough profit in it.  The other side of that coin woul be that it might encourage some disgruntled players to come back to Tanki, but then when I quit a game, I don't bother with it anymore, so getting the word out to those ex-players might be difficult.

Fourth, I don't think Tanki wants us playing any other way than the way they want the game played.   I believe they want complete control so they can target their marketing very precisely.  They've got us where they want us, why let us wiggle any?  All the degrading of the game they have done over the last couple of years has been to bring us to this point.  I can't imagine them backsliding now as their evil plans come to fruition.

Fifth, kinda in line with the first and fourth, but...if it ain't broke don't fix it.  Tanki is more lucrative now than it has ever been (my educated guess), Why take a gamble on a small money making affair when the current system is already raking in the cheese?  Especially if there is even a tiny chance it might disrupt cheese production.

Well that's why the limited time period for playing, so that once a given amount of time (3 hours for my example) has elapsed, you'll be auto-kicked from the battle and you won't be able to play until the server restart for the same time. It's more than just for nostalgia. I, for example, would have loved to play Tanki at the time of the whole Moonsilence event, and so it's more of an opportunity for tankers to relive the history of Tanki in moments they can only re-watch or cherish. I feel like if this kind of a feature is implemented, players may just make a return (limited advertising would be a problem as you said) and it'll certainly bring back old-time vibes for players who see old Tanki videos and think "I wish I could have played at the time! It'd have been amazing!

If we were able to go back in time, would all the bugs and glitches follow? Would the maps be exactly the same as they were during that time period?

As it is now, in Pro battles, if you select an unpopular map as the battlefield, you can run around the map for 15-30 minutes and no one will join. Wouldn't this idea end up the same way?

Nope, glitches won't follow. As for your second point, the server would be expensive, so I'd assume you'd buy one because you have many friends who are available to play with (there are 5 createable matches per server afterall) or because you want to gain some popularity. In either case, people won't have much choice in the matter of where they can play as the server is small so I'd think it is unlikely.

Not sure what you mean here. If you had an option to literally load an older version of the game onto your server, then obviously it would have all of the old glitches and bugs (not the new ones though). Although if this does get implemented, I highly doubt you'd be able to go back to an older version, and it would definitely be like private battles, meaning that nothing you do there will affect your account (no exp, no battle fund, no purchases, etc.)

Oh no, I mean, for example that bugs at that time would be fixed, however only when they don't have any new feature implementation. Well what I try to mean is that once you create your private server, it's like you get your current account on the up-to-date version of Tanki to go back there (max ranks and such accounted for) and you earn crystals the same way players did that time. Once your server expires, your private server account remains and can be played with as it was left, although you cannot transfer anything between the current real server and your private server. In essence, somewhat like playing Tanki inside of Tanki (if that seems logical).

That's definitely not how this feature would work, I can tell you that much. The most you can expect is a few more options than a private battle and some special permissions for yourself as a server host.

Well I really can't say how it would work. I do assume though that what you say would be correct as Tanki wouldn't want to overdo it (assuming that this feature was added, which I imagine is not too likely)
