Disable the placement of wasp's bombs in and around spawn for either side

Recommended Posts

This contributes to more spawncamping and one sided matches and there's no real justification for it. I shouldn't be immediately killed with zero chance of preventing it when I just spawned. With enemy players there, sure, I can put up a fight and slowly whittle them down. Mines are a little less managable depending on how many there are, how big my hull is, etc. But a Wasp crapping out a miniature nuke because the developers felt it needed that ability every twenty seconds? Are they kidding?

That's not a problem with Wasp's bombs (which are useless enough as is), but with spawn mechanics in general. The issue you raise is valid, but the solution is not suitable.

The same way you can't drop a mine on a base/control point/rugby drop why can the wasp bomb work there?

I feel that OD's should not be able to just change everything. When a titan's dome is on an enemy base-the team has control over the game for that time. When a titan's dome is on a gold box location-the other team can't get it. When there is a wasp bomb in such a location when there is a scramble to defend a base-it is an automatic score. You can't drop a mine there probably since it ruins the game-you shouldn't be able to drop a wasp's bomb there!

Nukes aren't a "trap" like mines, though.

Yeah-but Wasp's bombs and Titan's Dome guarantees that one team will catch it-kind of like a mine.

Mine's are a surprise, or a trap. A Nuke declares it's gonna explode. Mines can stay there for several minutes, while the bomb explodes in 3 seconds. I agree that a Dome or a Nuke at an important Point can unbalance the game, but they really can't be compared to mines.

During those 3 seconds the rugby/gold box drops the Wasp bomb will explode. It may not be a surprise-but it is affecting balance and shouldn't be able to guarantee one team will catch it.

A Nuke is also a trap to slower hulls who can't back away in time-or lagging hulls.

It's a direct attack. Hard to not notice it with that loud beeps. On the other hand, mines are barely noticeable unless up close, and that too if you are focusing on the path.

I hope you understood what I meant by a trap.

Useless enough as it is? If one is dropped at any time the Wasp automatically wins unless you were already backing away or use an OD that protects against it! Heavy hull mains exist too, you know. It should at the very least not instantly kill things above a Titan, that makes zero sense.

I understand there is a big difference that it only goes off if you step on it.

But a wasp bomb has the same effect in a drop location or control point as a mine-that one team is guaranteed to win. I don't see why the 'trap' effect should be all that counts-although it is something.

A Mine doesn't wipe out a team, a Nuke does.

A mine just damages the one person stepping on it. I don't see how a Mine can guarantee a victory, except if there are lots of them, blocking a very important path or access to some Point, and the miner is hiding away from fire.

I understand the point you're trying to convey about Wasp's Overdrive, but comparing it to a Mine isn't reasonable.

I understand it is different-a Wasp bomb wipes out a team-a mine doesn't.

A mine is a trap-a Wasp bomb doesn't.

But if Tanki is so worried that a mine will ruin the game since its a trap-a Wasp bomb affects the game more than a trap. I don't see why it should be allowed to be dropped on a point.

I don't see why they should get a new one every twenty seconds if it's this effortless of an overdrive to use.

Viking's overdrive is devastating with the right turret, but it can still be killed during it.

Wasp can kill several people around an objective because they've existed for twenty seconds.

Hunter's overdrive requires a little more thinking, that ungodly thing people have to do to play video games, to use.

Wasp's overdrive is a literal "no u" if you get killed. I don't like being killed by someone who's already dead every minute or so.

You see my point? It's actual cancer. If it were less deadly then yes, I could absolutely see the point in it existing. But it shouldn't be countered exclusively by Hunter and Titan's overdrives if not a lot of other overdrives require another to disable it.

Tl;Dr: Tanki should follow their own formula for powerful overdrives. More power = More time/kills to charge.

You're talking about 1v1 scenarios. In that case pretty much every overdrive will come out a winner. But unlike Viking and Hunter, which can easily take out multiple enemies, Wasp's bomb usually kills just 1 or 2 tanks, often none at all.

Tbf you see the low ranks. At higher ranks (so I'm told) most things get away. Watch a YT video. The acceleration is so advanced from M0 to M2 that an M2 Hornet can see a bomb, stop moving towards it, and get out of range. Exact same scenario with M0? It gets killed. That's why I keep saying that the timer should slowly decrease as the modifications get better, but making the bomb less powerful over all ranks would make it too underpowered.

You've clearly never had a Wasp drive up to the defensive force of your team and kill all of them. Yes, in the end the Wasp dies. But that kind of thing should not exist regardless of what modification level the hulls are, as HBTY mentioned. Sure at M4+ you can tap a direction and travel several miles instantly or whatever it is that goes on up there, but M0-1 level mediums and heavies are just mincemeat. I also legitimately can't comprehend why the developers seem to hate heavy hulls, but that's another can of worms.

With your idea a Wasp would be unable to place a bomb in large areas of the enemy's base. That doesn't sound like fun.

Many Shift keys will break in a few days because many players will be clicking and clicking and clicking trying to drop a bomb.

Perhaps you're right, but we're going off-topic here. The issue being discussed is that Wasp's bombs are causing spawn-camping problems.

It isn't. You're actually supposed to stand on the Flag base/Other points to take the flag/complete an action. If mines are allowed to be planted there, they might as well destroy the purpose of taking the flag. A Nuke won't stay forever, you can wait it out. But if a team plants 2 or more mines on a Flag base, no one will be able to take it without OD/Protections.

I mean, I spawn and get instantly killed because some cheeky Wasp existed for ten seconds. What's more to discuss? Mines can be driven out of but if, again, you main a heavier hull than Viking then you're just screwed out of getting to play the game. Spawncamping itself isn't that hard to deal with, it's dirty and absolutely done by the scum of the earth but you can stall whittle their health down most of the time. Wasp deciding we don't get to play the game is absolutely a bad design choice.
