Idea for better-fair matchmaking

Recommended Posts

I have a really good idea, who ever makes an in game purchase with real money should only be matched with ones who made purchases too, and they can't match with non-buyers, this idea will solve a big problem in this game, which is that buyers destroys non-buyers leaving them no chance, and it won't affect the devs income so i hope to see this in-game.

While your idea offers better balanced battles for the free players, this can't be done for economic reasons.

It is intentional that buyers are able to gain their equipment faster/easier and are allowed to use them versus less powerful tanks. That's the basic reason why someone would spend money on the games battle-effective items (like supplies, turrets, modules, upgrades, ..).

Tanki created a lot of "non battle effective" sellable items in the last years (goldboxes, special paints, ...) and they make money from them.. but they still need the earnings from the battle-effective stuff (turrets, upgrades, modules). If there isn't enough income per year, the game would have to shut down.

So the choice is either to live with the status quo, or to shut down the game. Clearly the owners opt for continuing the game.. which in the end, benefits every free player who likes to play Tanki.

In addition to the above, every free player has access to equipment that can be purchased with money, so separating "buyers" and free players won't even help balance all that much. Because on one hand you could have a buyer with a weak garage, who spends all their money on useless stuff like gold boxes and paints, while on the other hand you could have free players, who know how to efficiently spend their crystals and have better equipment even than most buyers.

I made this suggestion too :) Good answers are provided above, but they didn't quote your post so you wouldn't get a notification.

Nope. I am a buyer but I play fair. Sure, I have M3 Hornet-Shaft from buying Centaur, but it's not like I maxed out within 5 minutes. More like in normal speed.

It's all about supplies not tank tier, m0 tank with supplies can beat m2 tank without them, buying higher tier tanks is easier now for f2p players

If you think this way, f2p players will be tired because they can't do anything against tanks with double damage, double armor all the time, or a railgun who 1 shots every tank, or a thunder with double dmge which is childish, and they will leave the game, new players will realise the same thing and will make 1 choice between 2:

1_ becomes a buyer

2_ leave the game

And very little percentge of players who are patient will continue to play the game with unbalanced games. And btw i'm still playing this game because it's unique, the only thing that makes me rage are druggers.

I think this could already be happening.

Why do you think we get battles where one team is full of noobs and the others are pros? I think it's the Group system, but it could also be that Tanki is rewarding buyers by putting them in better teams.

Another way this could be happening is that the MM system could be placing players with fast connections in one team and those with slower connections in the other team, just because it's a dumb system, there some with better connections may mean more likely buyers.

Basically the problem lies in income.Tanki gives a great many chances to F2P players who waste them. And then call the game P2W only because it is more strategic. If you separated buyers and non buyers there would be no reason to buy and Tanki Online would die next dev's payday.

I only bought two things in the shop ever. One is an m3 kit, the other is 50 containers, which I completely wasted by opening one at a time.

But that's not the main reason why I have over 10,000 of Double armor, double damage, speed boost, and mines each, 3.3k repair kits, and 2.4k batteries. If anything, it's probably only a very small fraction. The real reason why I have so many supplies is because of missions, and blue containers, combined with being done playing after completing missions.

And even if you separate buyers from non buyers, you'll still have to deal with smart non buyers who probably have more supplies than me. Also small buyers would just get wrecked by the big buyers. And it would make tanki's economy much worse.

You must be playing a different game than I am - because they've been killing the "strategy" part of the game for a couple years now with all of their "updates"...

I think he is referring "strategy" in terms of saving and upgrading/buying equipment on the right time. I've made this mistake in the past and I've seen most of the non-buyers making the same mistake.
