Make the ODs give the hulls personal abilities and supporting buffs for its team.

How about:

Viking: overheat begins only when firing for an extended period when the overdrive is active, similar to Vulcan.

Hornet: the DA and protection swap places, so if an opponent has protection AND a DA, it will disregard the DA but will observe the protection.

I think losing them and having to wait for the next one after wasting it is punishment enough.

Yes, overdrives should become a personal thing due to players playing styles and skills. A mastery level for the use of each turret could be added for turrets and overdrives, like in Tanki X.

Just a weird idea here; What if every hull had multiple overdrives similar to alterations for turrets? Rather than buying them I think they should unlock with rank and stay in the garage, and you simply choose which one you want to use. For example, Wasp would start with Oil Slick, which coats an area in a slowing AOE to help it get away or stall attackers. It should have a medium length recharge. After a certain rank you unlock Overclock, which causes a X4 speed effect for ten seconds. Again, for making getaways. Finally it unlocks the bomb it has now, when everyone should have M2/3 equipment that can outrun it easier than M0s.

I think these ODs should have both a personal ability / gain and a team gain aspect. So here's what I thought of:

Wasp: the only thing that seemed suitable for wasps bomb is giving it the OD charge replenishment that dictator currently has, same restrictions except it would be able to give it to their teammates no matter where they are (wasps not included), just like hornets radar.

Hunter: using emp on teammates should either instantly fully heal them or instantly reload their supplies.

Viking: teammates get a 20% damage boost for 20 seconds, that includes the Viking itself that used OD. Just like hornets radar, you won't need to be near your teammates to activate it.

Dictator: having the freezing ability for dictator is not interesting at all, especially for a hull. So remove it And the ability to share supplies and replace it with a 75% reflection ability that lasts for 15 to 20 seconds and increase teammates defense by 20% for 15 or 20 seconds.

Titan: give it 5 or 10 exp and battle points for every teammate it's dome successfully protects and fully heals.

Mammoth: increase teammates speed by 20% for 20 seconds, that includes the mammoth but after the immortality ends. This doesn't need to be used near teammates just like hornets radar.

Edit: updated

Doesn't Viking OD already give the user a damage boost?  Or does this 20% replace the current boost?  Don't see how though as DPS turrets would be useless.

It's only for the teammates, not the user that activated the OD.

And sorry for not updating you that I changed my original idea.

No no no no, the overdrives already have a huge impact on the game and this would only make that worse.

No it won't. The only ODs that currently affect gameplay too much are dictator (because of that OD replenishment ability), titan, hornet + wasp and Viking in certain situations.

How is this gonna work?

What determines if a teammate is "protected"?

Oof. I forgot to edit that first part. Sorry about that. But thanks for catching it. Will edit it now.

Edit: Ok, that part is now updated. Any way the teammate is protected if it's in the dome.
