Tankoins in weekly containers

My old containers would become classified as "old containers", right!

Questions:

1. Will the "old containers" category remain permanently in players garages after they open all of their old containers? I want to know the answer to that question by developers.

2. After all my old containers are opened, will the new Tankions containers be renamed as "new containers" in players garages as well?

It was explicitly said before that players would not get a large amount of Tankicoins from containers, and suddenly, everyone is acting shocked that this was fulfilled. Tankicoins are a premium currency designed to be used to buy items that would otherwise be only available for real money, thus it makes no sense to give them out in substantial numbers for free. Many other games have a premium currency, and it is not easy to obtain in them either.

The primary purpose of a premium currency is to streamline transactions: instead of making several purchases of different Shop items, you can make a single purchase of Tankicoins and then buy various items with them. Giving F2P players an opportunity to buy Shop items for “free” is only a minor, secondary purpose.

don't forget that you get 6 Weekly Containers every week.

cough cough Finish battle in winning team on top 3 places (0/15) cough

Also forgot to say that the last one is impossible for a regular player, so you are actually getting average 3.5 containers weeklly and not 6

I haven't completed any of my currently available weekly missions yet. If I complete them after tomorrow's server restart, will they include Tankoins.?

This question is a very good one, and requires an answer.

So in reality, they just wanted to increase prices on Shop items without saying "we're increasing prices". Indeed, very clever strategy but toxic at the same time.

Guys, do not forget that previously we didn't have this way of getting Shop items at all.

Before this update, a player had to take part in contests, events, eSports tournaments, challenges and other activities or open containers to get any items from the Shop.

And as for now, a player can get tankoins from containers and use them to buy items from the Shop.

Once again, before the update a player completed weekly missions and received 0 tankoins, and now the player does same things and receives 3 tankoins from each weekly container.

It is very strange to be disappointed because of getting additional prizes as well as to expect much higher number of tankoins from a weekly container.

Are you actually serious? If you’re for real not joking then you need to take a visit to a mental facility. Have you even taken a GLIMPSE inside of the shop and seen how many Tankoins are needed for the cheapest most useless things? How would you feel if you had to live for the rest of your life with 18 pennies per week. You’d have to save up for 2 years to buy a nice snack

Right, but Cedric said they would try to “strike a good balance” between free and buyer players. THREE TANKOINS is a complete JOKE if you do the math, it’s like free pennies on the street every week,

Many players do not get 6 weekly containers per week.  That first weekly mission gets done every other week at best for players who are not "no-lifers".  And the even-more-difficult daily missions make the 20 missions un-doable weekly for many as well.

What is your definition of "much higher"?

3 is a pittance that will not add up to anything even over 6 months.  And you are surprised players are disappointed by this, when TO made such a big deal about it?

It's pretty hard to get excited about something that won't happen for ... 6 months?  1 year?  That's how long it will take most players to save enough tankoins to buy anything.

For all-intents-and-purposes most players still do not have access to Shop items.

Their contents will include 3 Tankoins (this will be the same for all ranks) as well as other bonuses.

Um.... how 3 Tankoins are enough for F2P to compete heavy buyers?  #WorstPatheticJokeIEverHeard.

Right, but Cedric said they would try to “strike a good balance” between free and buyer players. THREE TANKOINS is a complete JOKE if you do the math, it’s like free pennies on the street every week,

Here is Cedric's original post:

Not exactly, but we're trying to strike a good balance. We're never gonna be able to make everyone 100% happy, but we're always trying to find a good middle ground where it's fairer for everyone. It's a tough quest though lol

Notice how horribly vague it is. I have no idea what the devs or Cedric mean by a "good balance" - perhaps they mean a "good balance" is when buyers reign supreme and F2Ps merely stop complaining. He does not even specify between who they are trying to strike said balance. On top of that, Cedric says that they are "not exactly" trying to make Tanki more F2P - how can you "strike a good balance" between but at the same time not make Tanki more F2P? This to me is a total contradiction. What does it mean to be "fairer for everyone?" Perhaps Cedric means that other sources of Tankoins (contests and challenges) will make things fairer and not containers. I used to play another game which also had a premium currency very similar to Tankoins, and it also had containers which you obtained by completing daily and weekly missions. In that game, containers would give you a very small amount of premium currency, while the main way to obtain it (for free players) was to play tournaments and complete what were similar to Tanki's challenges.

The point is, Cedric's words do not show the full picture, are ambiguous, and almost seem to contradict themselves. On the other, hand, in vlog 218 (which is an official news source, and not the CM's quick comments), it was said that "earning Tankoins will be possible, but it will take quite a bit of effort to collect enough to make a purchase, and you won't be able to do it often." This is concrete and objective, unlike Cedric's comment, and it comes from an official news source. Unless there is an official announcement or something unambiguous written, I do not see any reason to base expectations off of it.

Honestly - no joke and no exaggeration - it is like the owners of Tanki are trying to kill the game.  Update after update means we spend more and have less fun.  Shorter games so that the first team to score a flag usually wins.  Overdrives that give advantage to the least skilled players at the touch of a button.  MM that makes it very difficult and slow to play with friends.  MM alone killed off half the social aspect of the game.  If I were to write a manual on how to alienate my customer base, I would turn to Tanki as an example.  I know so many long term players that have quit the game over this stuff, and I find myself wondering why I am still playing.  Three coins?!?!?  OMG.  You guys in Tanki need some professional advice about how to grow a video game.  Good luck.

Hardly.

What is the definition of "quite a bit of effort"?

- 2 weeks?

- 1 month?

- 1 QTR year?

- 6 months?

Anything more than 1 month surpasses "quite a bit of effort" in my books.

It reminds me of "A Small Loan of a Million Dollars". Tanki's version would be "A small effort of few years"

Finally, they've been added! They were right about saying it was going to be challenging.

Challenging?

The Difficulty Level in Tanki goes like this : Normal-->Hard-->Challenging-->No-Lifer-->Mental issues-->Tankoins

To be fair, they have closed the F2P/P2P gap a bit - increased prices and 3 TKs per week means no one can afford to buy - consider the gap closed ;)

This will be a lesson to many on what it's like to earn a paycheck.

If we were destined to earn less than 1$ per month, which is basically what tankions are.

I know it's illogical for them to give out too many of them and ruin their economy with a single move, they have to be cautious. But still, some people here are estimating it'll take years to buy a kit, there's a difference between hard work and just plain insanity.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the next challenge.

Let's do equivalent math while we wait. There are 38 kits which buyers and non-buyers alike can get from the garage at a total of about 16 million crystals. The average of the 38 is exactly 423,320. So this is the target kit. Some are better deals, some are terrible, but this is average.

The best rank at which you can buy kits is Marshal. The weekly container crystals for Marshal players are 2570. So just off weekly containers alone [no battle funds, no cost of entering contest, crystals from containers, gold boxes, MU spends, etc.], and assuming you get all 6 every week, you still need 27 weeks to collect that much. Half a year.

The shop currently has 41 tank kits valued at full price of 373680 Tankoins. That is an average of about 9114. So just off weekly containers alone for Tankoins at 18 per week, that's 506 weeks... That sounds terrible. The truth is a bit better:

  1. If you are a non-buyer like me, you aren't buying overpriced equipment, you're buying the cheaper stuff. So the Medic kit is "only" 7000.
  2. Non-buyers cannot afford at high ranks not to wait for sales. It's 4900 right now. That is "only" 388 weeks?...
  3. We know from V-Logs that Tankoins are coming from challenges. Probably not many...
  4. If you pay in crystals instead of Tankoins, there is an opportunity cost of no longer having the crystals for MUs, other equipment, protection modules, PRO pass, and so on. This alone should mean that it should take longer in Tankoins than it would in the garage.
  5. If you are a non-buyer, you probably can reason that paints are not for you. Get a cheap camouflage paint for summer, winter, and maybe night if a PRO pass user, and that's all you need. Once you are up to the M3 ranks, there's no reason to buy most of the kits. The individual equipment pieces are cheaper on the deepest sales. [And you're poor, remember? You need the best sales to spend several playing months on equipment.]
