Multiple unlockable overdrives for each hull

Or rather, Overdrives that can be unlocked with each Modification level of your hull and swapped out for free.

 

For example, Titan's dome could have the usual heal everything setting OR a setting that forfeits the healing in exchange for a smaller size and slowing effect.

 

Wasp could have the normal Bomb Of Kill Everything or one that freezes everyone in the radius but deals no damage, or a stealth mode that hides it from automatic targeting systems (but not Shaft or Freeze/Firebird) for a few seconds.

 

I could list a few more, but I'd like to hear some of your ideas rather than pat myself on the back.

This one makes more sense than the alterations topic IMO.

It's basically the same - a way of adjusting your overdrive to better suit specific gameplay situations and your own playstyle. In fact, I'm considering just merging the topics.

Fair enough- I just mean that I like the idea of unlocking the alterations as a rank-based thing rather than just adding more alterations.

Alterations can be (and are) unlocked upon reaching new ranks.

Or it could be a different category in the Garage where you could have the current overdrives and buy maybe some others.

The idea is to equip the one that you like and change it if you want just like turrets/hulls/paints but with a cooldown during battles.

And if you become Juggernaut your overdrive just becomes stronger (Exept from Dictator's Overdrive)

I thought the purpose of OD was to make hulls more unique and different from each other. But if it is kept relatively similar it wouldn't be a problem.

They are. More overdrives for each hull, mostly based around that hull.

Overdrives are powerful abilities given to each hull in the game. While the current overdrives are all fine and dandy, I'm just proposing that maybe we should develop more overdrives to be used by hulls as an added form of versatility. The delivery of these overdrives could be in the form of augments, with the current overdrives being default.

Ideas for addtional overdrives:

Wasp

Overdrive name: Celerity Engine

  • The user becomes immune to impact force from external sources, and gains a 50% increase in maximum speed for 15 seconds.

Hornet

Overdrive name: Smoke Screen

  • For the following 5 seconds, puffs of smoke form around the user, reducing visibility for any enemy tanks. The impairment of vision increases if there is more smoke in an area. Meaning, a hornet can pop smoke and dash around, generating some general cover, or can sit in place and create a thick cloud that reduces visibiity to zero.

Hunter

Overdrive name: Priority Target

  • After a 0.5 second delay, the user loses and becomes incapable of gaining supply buffs for 15 seconds to emit a pulse, marking any targets within 10 meters with an orange ring below them. Targets marked have all augments disabled, and receive 50% additional damage from all sources. The mark lasts for 5 seconds and isn't removed when the user is destroyed. Marks cannot stack (activation of Priority Target from additonal hunters will not affect currently marked targets).

Viking

Overdrive name: Warrior's Aura

  • The user emits a powerful aura that reduces the damage output all nearby enemies caught in the aura by 75%. The aura is emitted for 10 seconds. Enemies who leave the aura regain their full damage output.

Dictator

Overdrive name: King's Blessing

  • User becomes immobile and emits a blue aura that heals nearby allies for 10-30 health per tick for 15 seconds. Users that are closer to the user receive more healing.

Titan

Overdrive name: Unwavering Strength

  • The user becomes unmovable (cannot be flipped by Juggernaut's OD, cannot be pushed by enemy hulls) for 10 seconds.

Mammoth

Overdrive name: Colossal Resolve

  • User gains invulnerability from turret and mine damage for 5 seconds.

 

I couldn't think of anything for Hopper and Ares, so I left them out.

If Tanki ever adds this, people can only obtain the different overdrives via Ultra Containers, by paying 4990 tankcoins, or spending like 100 US dollars on some pack in the shop.

Note: This is not a suggestion, it is a prediction.


Still, great idea but it would be a bit more work for the balancing department.

The game ruined a lot, from a simple game just to upgrade turrets and hulls, paints and use drugs -- to a Drones - OD - Augments - Tankoins ... miss the old days

btw, your idea will make the game more complicated and make some hard of remember everything -- - -- - - - - don't think the developers will implement it without making them OP compared to regular OD
