Comparing HTML5 to Flash

 Share

Recommended Posts

I'm not a programmer and know not even a thimbleful about it. A couple friends who have dabbled it in told me that

1...Trying to compare HTML5 with Flash is like trying to compare the South Pole with the Equator

2...The other friend said that it's more like trying to compare English, Russian and Chinese. English is Latin based, therefore it has all Latin base languages in common. Russian and Chinese are not Latin based so neither can be compared to English. Russian is Slavic based and cannot be compared with English nor Chinese. The Chinese language has its roots in Proto-Sino-Tibetan and cannot be compared to English or Russian.

As so is HTML5 and Flash. Is it true there's that much difference between the two?

In the final product there isn't much difference. In the backend however they are vastly different. All the analogies you mentioned aren't particularly good.

Imagine an old building with wooden beams and old construction techniques, now imagine that same building being refurbished for preservation, the beams would be replaced with steel ones and more modern techniques would be used. It looks the same on the outside but is far more modern and robust on the inside.

Think of the building exterior as the UI, controls and look of the game and the beams as the underlying platform in which the code is written.

HTML5 is unplayable for me so far it got many issues need to be fixed like my keyboard works in "AZERTY" system, HTML5 forces me to use "W" to turn my turret left instead of "Z" and I can't turn my turret right for some reason everytime I press "X" the tank just stops driving and there are way too many changes in control which I'm not used to

Without mentioning FPS issues

Tanki client is the best platform for Tanki for me and Flash isn't that bad, at least better than HTML5

What exactly are you looking for? the difference in the system (language) or the programmatic or the difference in game due to the use of them?

To calculate 2+2 you can use your brain or any calculator you will still find 4 (not for all human thought).

You computer system could be very different (like using apple or android), but in the end you can still play the same game or write your next story.

The main differences will come from the coding. So if you see a problem on HTML5 report it for a fix and get HTML5 closer to Flash.

As a modern calculator can do more than an old one, you will see new in-game functionality which were not possible or difficult to do with flash.

if you are looking for stem difference check out on internet, there is plenty of article on the subject: HTML5 vs Flash: https://www.educba.com/html5-vs-flash/

Have you tried going to settings and changing the key assignments? I had to do that for the ghosting issue on my keyboard. I could go around in a circle, but if I tried to circle around someone and fire at the same time, I had to stop firing to turn my tank then start firing again. My circles were more like octagons.

Without mentioning FPS issues

I was recently said that the HTML5 version is getting overhauled to the same engine as the mobile version, which runs extremely well on low end devices. So I would expect the same of the desktop version when it arrives.

For now, for Tanki that remains true, but there is no denying Flash is outdated and has large security issues. HTML5 is far superior in a technical sense.

flash is better because it is 1 more stable 2 clearer 3 NORMAL CAMERA VIEWS

True for the time being. But right now, they're just integrating everything from flash to HTML5, once that's done, then they'll work on the bugs, issues, and other inconveniences that exist.

But overall, it has gotten so much better since last time.

Speaking of time, it's only a matter of it before HTML5 catches up to and surpasses flash.

I got used to the camera within 30mins, now I don't even notice. Guess everyone is different.

I'm 99 percent sure you can change this via settings or the console (ctrl+shift+k)

Actually Flash is not better , it crashes every 3 matches and i need to close and open the client again .. Lag issues , lot of bugs.....

HTML5 is better , it can introduce a lot of new updates and the most popular example is : Voice Chat...

btw Adobe company will stop flash services in 2020 so next year there will be nothing called " Flash "
