New TDM scoring system

Disclaimer, this idea was derived from a topic made by @StopChasingMe.

 

In the current system, a player with 15 kills and 14 deaths would get a higher reward than a player with 14 kills and 0 deaths (assuming that there were no assists).

 

This makes sense in most modes, but in TDM, each death means another kill for the other team, meaning that each time you die the other team is closer to the objective.

 

In TDM, therefore, each death should take off ~2 points from your score. A small difference, but it does keep the focus not on rushing into the open, but being smart.

Since they just stay back in some protected area and spawn-kill the enemy-not going together with other tanks. This would totally reward camping. If someone takes the effort to go into combat with the enemy, and do some damage-they should get some sort of a reward. That's why there is a reward for an assist-but if you lose 2 of those 5 points, assisting will only give you 3 points. :(

Fixed that for you - why would anyone hate a Shaft that doesn't camp?

 

Anyways, you have a valid point, and I did think of it. But still, the original problem is bad too. If someone is camping they technically shouldn't have an opportunity to make as many kills as someone who moves forward. But it's kind of a lose-lose. 

 

Anyone got a suggestion to fix both problems?

I was gonna say that the closer the enemy is to you before you kill them, the more points you would get. But it would lead to specific turrets be used for what they're not designed for.

 

So Idk.

Maybe if you get points (1-2) for taking damage while dealing damage. So if a rail-gun takes damage while taking its next shot, it would get points, while if it camped, and backed off without dealing damage it wouldn't get this.

But I think this may favor melees and close-ranged turrets.

If you implement this you need to replace the matchmaking scoring to pro battle scoring, because in this case only campers will win(even more than before)

Become a camper or time your railgun shots correctly to successfully hit your enemies.

Taking off points from your score when you die is a terrible idea. For challenges in particular, that would not be fair because you would drop places and not earn extra stars by finishing in the top 3 places.

 

I don't like that idea of removing battle points or XP. Bad idea.

 

The current scoring system for all battles is fine. There is no need to change it.

We could have kill streaks that give extra points and exp when you reach a certain milestone of kills without dying like for example:

 

1-4 kills = 10 points

5-9 kills = 15 points

10-14 kills = 20 points

15-19 kills = 25 points

20-24 kills = 30 points.

 

Etc.

I don't think it's a bad idea, my post in the other topic - link

 

But I think there should be a bonus for players with more than 1 K/D in TDM instead of penalizing players that are either bad at TDM or unlucky.
