PSA: Tanki X is shutting down in 2020

If you don't (and you probably don't) follow Tanki X news, this is to inform you that Tanki X will be shutting down at the start of 2020.

 

To summarise:

• Tanki X never managed to gain popularity, mostly due to unexpected changes just before the game launched
• Lately, the revenue received from Tanki X doesn't even cover the cost of running the servers
• Game servers will work until early 2020, but most services (payments, forum, help) will shut down

There are also some fun news to come with this.

 

Every player, who logged into Tanki X at least once since June 2019 and before September 2nd is able to receive a pretty hefty reward in Tanki Online. But keep in mind that this code is only for active players. If you registered/opened Tanki X after the closing announcement was posted, you will not get the Tanki Online promo code. Meanwhile, in Tanki X (in the link above) there is an unlimited usage promo code that gives 50 000 X crystals (similar to tankoins), which you can claim and use to play around with anything in the game.

 

If I recall correctly, you don't even need to rank up in TX in order to try everything, so this is the perfect time to have some fun with the cool graphics, maps and game mechanics without worrying about getting steamrolled by buyers.

Dear friends!

On behalf of all former team of the game and Alternativa Games we had to tell you about some sad but expected news.

Each story ends one day and it is time to say goodbye to TX.

There are a lot of reasons for that, the main one is that PC gaming market is too competitive and overloaded and it is not possible to make the game popular not only in Russia but abroad as well. As a result, we made a difficult decision - concentrate our efforts on other areas. In general, we would like to mention that the game has come a long way and stayed alive for 3 years during which we have released a lot of cool features.

We know that you were worried about the fate of the project with us — thanks for that! Thanks for warm support, fiercely criticising and for cheering for TX. Thanks for all «The battles of corporations», for all your game related creativity in contests and not only in contests, for competition in ratings and spirit of competition, for bug reports and persistence in solving problems. We hope that you have found a lot of friends in the game and have received a lot of positive emotions!

What happens next

Starting today, we will disable some game services and websites. However, game servers will be available until the start of 2020 so you will have time to play for your own amusement. You can use this promo codes to buy items which you wanted to buy, premium account and X-crystals:

Tanki X closure plan:
1) Payment services will be gradually disabled in September. We will not post on social media, echo.tankix.com will be closed, Wiki will not be updated, registration will be disabled.
2) Until the end of December 2019, some technical and experimental updates will be released, servers will be restarted at any time when needed
3) At the start of 2020, game servers will be disabled, all players data will be deleted. The website, forum and wiki will also be disabled.
4) You will be able to contact us regarding any questions about accounts and the game, even after the closure, via e-mail: help@tankix.com
5) Furthermore, we invite you to our flagship project Tanki Online, which has reached the age of 10 this year and continues to be developed. At the end of the previous year, mobile version was released and the new interface was released in July and it has become more comfortable to play.

We will send some cool promo codes for Tanki Online via email to those active players of Tanki X who were registered in Tanki X before 20.08.2019 and entered into the game at least once after the start of July 2019. Emails will be sent in 2 work days.

Also I find it funny that people say it was less P2W than TO is. It's actually the other way around.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I stopped playing TX. The amount of X crystals you'd get for free and the amount you needed to buy the top tier containers to get the best modules was just ridiculous.

Not surprising, but a real shame. The game had a lot of interesting mechanics and was (at one point) quite fun to play. I suppose it is time to start datamining it in earnest.

Between the "deserter" flagging, lack of maps and the need to play full-time to keep up any League advancement I quickly lost my desire to play.

Honestly it was actually great to play until developers focused more and more on modules. It feels like 6 fully upgraded drones at once nowdays. I am still surprised how you dont have enough revenue with all these crazy no lifers

IMO the game was good in Open Beta but it went downhill after the Arms Race update. Back then it resembled pre-2016 gameplay.
