Honestly it was actually great to play until developers focused more and more on modules. It feels like 6 fully upgraded drones at once nowdays. I am still surprised how you dont have enough revenue with all these crazy no lifers

 Many of those "no lifers" were playing since Open Beta; barely anyone was supporting Tanki X at the end.

Tanki 2.0 was meant to replace Tanki. Eventually the devs scrapped the project due to bugs and started on Tanki X, which was a self sufficient game. It should all be there in the article you linked.

Not surprising, but a real shame. The game had a lot of interesting mechanics and was (at one point) quite fun to play. I suppose it is time to start datamining it in earnest.

 

To me it looked like the game was trying too hard to be cool.

Maf you forgot to mention that you can only get the promocode if you played before September 2nd. Many people are spamming the TX forum asking "where promocode?" when they won't ever get one.

On the TX forum there's a response from someone saying the cutoff was September 2nd.

 

Which is fair because I created a TX account when I created this account > played for it a bit and didn't like it > only played again (and created three more accounts) to get that TX promo code for 10 TO containers > didn't login to TX again until yesterday (and today for the other three accounts).

 

Obviously not a regular TX player, so why should I get anything?

 

(but kicking myself because I really wish I had used those accounts again at least once, 100 containers, :()

I actually feel bad because I was a Tanki X player as well. Nothing to do, they weren't able to earn money because it was quite easy to qualify for the high leagues without paying, so one one cares about skins.

Unless HTML5 suddenly gets cancelled in browsers, I doubt it will be a flop.

1) Back in 2015 the devs were trying to transition Tanki off of Flash to Unity, which was supported by all browsers at the time. Suddenly though, Google pulled support for the plugin when Tanki Unity was nearing completion. Rather than putting hundreds of man hours to waste, they created Tanki X. It was really promising during the open beta test because while TO was being wrecked by Magnum and unwanted balance changes, Tanki X stayed the same and had the same gameplay people loved. However, after Arms Race (the game's release) the Tanki X devs got obsessed with lootbox progression and modules.
