HTML5 limited public release

I am not particularly impressed. I understand UI glitches are temporary, but I don't like that you can only access chat from the main screen, that you have to open another menu it choose a battle, that you are not able to view your position on the score board after a battle has ended, etc. The camera movement is also horrible.

I don't think it improves over the Flash version in anything except showing you what you can potentially get from containers.

You do realize that they're still working on it, right?

I realize that. But that does not mean I can't state my impressions. And I am certain that many design decisions that were made that I dislike are final, such as chat being accessible only from the main screen. Also, I don't like the new flag indicators. If they were "still working" on this aspect they would use the old ones.

Very very bad....

How can I change control options? It is impossible!

I use custom controls and I cannot play the new version.

You can play with the Flash version or the Client until they implement Custon Controls in the HTML5 version.

I cannot! Whatever they say - flash is not working on Chrome 76. I give all permissions, tried /flash URL, but finally it loads https://tankionline.com/html5/index.html

I cannot use the client as it is not for linux.

So I am stuck with the old html5 which is awful, but is still playable and graphics is much better, problems are not very bad - see the complaints above...

I will repeat - very, very bad!

The release is like a beta version and they, more than us, need to improve the HTML5 version, hopefully they implement what you want soon.

Was the game with Flash working before Google released the new Chrome? if yes then it should be working, because all they changed was permisions.

Have you tried Firefox?

Yes, the game was working with old chrome. I know it should working, but it doesn't and this is fact. FF is terrified!

When russians are devs - everything is beta :)

Yes! And it asks to reload the page for the changes to take effect. After reloading - it redirects again to \html5

Tried any URL but it always redirect. Version 76.0.3809.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Now I think you need to clear your browser cache. Some players where having that issue where it always redirect even if they don't want it to. You can ask in Communication and Feedback about it.

Or try Firefox.

After some sickening old HTML5 where the Shaft aiming doesn't work and space mode physics are messed up, this version is amazing. Compared to flash? No clue. But at least I have something to amuse myself with!

When I initially saw all the new features in the HTML5 version, I was very excited. A minimap, enhanced HUD, even a battle list where everyones' protections were listed? That makes it feel like good old COD4. Naturally, I looked at whether my laptop could cope with WebGL2. The green text saying "yes" put quite a big smile on my face. So, I went to test it out.

And then the problems began, even from the very first home screen.

I should tell you straight away that my Mac can pull off 60 FPS without breaking a sweat on the client. Even before on the browser version, it could pull off an admirable 45 on average. So when it gave me 10 on average, I started to become very scared. Because I had seen something like this before. Hint: it failed miserably.

That's right, I'm talking about Tanki X. Even on Minimum graphics, it could barely pull off 10 FPS in battle. As we all know, it's getting shut down later this year. Unfortunately, the game only rewarded those who had both a good PC. I was by no means a bad player - in fact, I was among the upper class of the EN community. But why do you think I left TX? If you thought that it relied too much on competitiveness, you'd be right. But the real reason was because I just couldn't bring myself to suffer because my only computer couldn't compete. I came back to TO because it was fun - it wasn't competitive, and one of the key reasons why so many people came to TO was because even people with potato graphics could have fun. This is how I was able to progress so much in the space of a year - I went from Captain to Commander in the space of 11 months. So when I saw what awaited me in battle, I was shocked to say the least.

(plus, the main menu theme/song is the exact same thing as that of TX)

I don't think there was any way I could hide my disappointment. I saw that the supplies section of the HUD were just black boxes. I saw that the camera movement was severely dizzying. And then, I saw a red number.

FPS: 6

By this point, I wanted to give up on the HTML client completely. I forced myself to play through a match. Peoples' turrets were turning at 270º/sec. The game was teleporting people around the map. But I kept playing. By the end, I was struggling not to cry. This was not the Tanki that I had grown up with. People had left because of the addition of Magnum, of MM, and many other things, but I felt that this could be the update that would make me do it too. And that feeling is frightening.

I should mention that regardless of where I was in the world when I played TO, my FPS was always remained the same. Whether I was in Ukraine, Japan, or Spain, it was always the same, even though the internet varied. Even here in Japan, I can still get 60 FPS while having 140 ping. But this... this was something else. The game has never been this badly optimized before. So if you come to me with a solution about my internet, it's moot.

If something doesn't change FAST, the game will be at risk of losing a huge chunk of the population. TX didn't die in vain. You were supposed to learn from your mistakes. Don't let this happen.

Save our Tanki. I urge you.

Please.

Weird. I get BETTER fps on html5 than even the client. It's so stable, it's wonderful. It's the first time in nearly 10 years I get 60 fps on browser. And with maximum battle screen size at that. Perhaps try it again, my first load in was kind of bad too, most icons didn't load at all. After the second everything was fine

Please add a feature to display the Tankions and crystals players have next to their rank bar.

It was decided that seeing your crystal and star amount was unnecessary during a battle, since most purchases are done outside of battles. If you need to buy something right then and there (such as supplies), you can go into your garage to buy it. The crystal count is visible in the garage.

Please developers can you make the new HTML5 downloadable client.

This is already planned.

Well done, Tanki. Really great update. The controls are a little janky compared to the flash version (mostly the camera speed) but it's insignificant enough that I'd say it's easy to adapt to.

The only thing I'd say is that the art style needs to change, mostly the tanks. The map textures kind of work, but the tanks just seem so out of place in such a techy environment

I am so happy that the new HTML5 downloadable client is planned for development.

What about the Flash version of the client? Will it stay or be removed?
