Rework Control Points

I really hate it when my team is about to win, then, suddenly the enemy catches all the control points and my team's captured points rolls back.

 

I prefer for control points to keep their current number of points after the enemy team captures them, instead of losing my team's captured points.

 

I remember that A few years ago control points used to keep their current score. That older system was better. Please can you developers bring back the old control points system like it was before. That way, players would make sure that their team's are guaranteed to win when surpussing the 50% winning side mark.

We do not accept ideas for reverting to previous versions of the game or its features. Of course this doesn't mean that the CP mode may never be reverted back to the old system, since game balance is an ongoing process and devs may eventually change their mind again. But there's no point suggesting it.

I am not asking to roll back any updates.

 

The only thing that I have asked for is for the control points mode to change back to how it was before the last update for it.

That's technically rolling back an update...

 

The current system allows the losing team to catch up.

That's why you ditch CP in MM, and do ASL mode

Asking to bring back a mechanic that was removed is the same thing. It was removed for a reason, so there's no point asking for something to be brought back when the decision to remove it has already been made.

Why would anyone would want to play ASL over CP?

ASL is incredibly more fun than CP when playing with a group. There is so much more need for good coordination, whereas in CP you can pretty much go solo and do just fine.

Exactly. Remember back in the day (2015 - 2016 New Year's holidays), when ASL was only available on one map that would later be re-added to MM as the map: "Yorkshire MM"?

 

And it was only available in that time? But there were 3 bases.

 

It would later become the mode for the Firebird Demonic star week, then be permanently added after that.

I play ASL much more than CP. It’s fun when most people on the blue team attempt to win the battle by getting 70 kills as quickly as possible and the red team isn’t expecting that level of aggression.

Anyway, CP is about controlling points instead of capturing them and I think it’s better that way, even if means losing sometimes because your team couldn’t hold on to its lead.

No one wants assault over control points mode. All game modes must remain in Tanki Online.

 

However, I strongly believe that control points must be reworked at some point, because of the new HTML5 version.

I know that, but it does not seem fair for the winning team. If a team is about to win, it's unfair for it to lose moments later.

True, but it's about giving both teams a chance to bring back a game, no matter how bad the score is. I remember I was once playing CP and we were losing badly, the score was 0-29 (out of 30). Then our team got themselves together and took back the initiative, eventually wining with a score of 16-15. It was a fun and intense battle - one of the best I've ever had.

 

If we had the old system instead, people would just start to leave once the score was 0-10, and it would be a boring "blowout" battle. So my point is, the current system helps make battles intense all the way and prevents players leaving halfway through.

Your point Maf, is great. I experienced battles where I was losing at 0-29, and later my team won at 16-15 just like you. The only drawback is the fact that when you are moments away to take victory, you suddenly lose. That is a problem when completing the "take the top 3 places mission".

 

Are there any other ways to improve how control points are captured?

Those missions are the worst. It's better to change it IMO even if I have to cough up 2k crystals.
