Welcome, everyone. You may remember back in 2016 when @Jwimmer interviewed @RIDDLER_8. Well, three game-changing years later, Riddler is still here, and I took it upon myself to re-interview him.

Riddler's answers were copy-and-pasted, so everything is his writing, I didn't change anything (except taking out a couple links).

 

 

 

Everyone in Tanki knows you as @RIDDLER_8. Would you care to reveal your real name?

 

No thanks. I do not want to reveal my real name just in case players search for me in real life. Last year, I have created a Discord account using my real name and I got bullied and even received that someone was going to send the police after me. I care about my privacy and security, so I do not want to use my real name where millions of players around the world can see my name. Tanki Online is as big as Facebook and Twitter. Just call me RIDDLER_8, since everyone here on Tanki Online knows me by that nickname. Since green is my favorite color, being The Riddler makes sense.

 

 

Not to get too personal (though this interview is for people to get to know you better), but how old are you?

 

I am 35 years old. However, age is not an issue to like and play Tanki Online. Yes, I would like Tanki Online players to know me better. In a matter of fact, the more people know me as a Tanki Online player, the better.

 

 

 

I remember back in August of 2016 when @Jwimmer interviewed you. You said you were 31 at the time - did you celebrate a birthday in the last two months?

 

Yes, when Jwimmer interviewed me I was 31 years old. Now, I am 35 years old. Yes, I celebrated my birthday in the last two months.

 

 

Well, happy belated birthday! 

I promise this is the last question about yourself :) Would you mind saying what level of education you have? (High School, University, etc.)

 

A few years ago, in late 2010, I got my GCSE English and Maths Levels 1 and 2 for both. I passed them both on both levels. That's why I am so good with my English skills in writing and creating new ideas for Tanki Online. I studied at the Bournemouth and Poole College, in England, UK. 

 

 

 

Great - now we're done the formalities, we can delve into Tanki. Do you have any alternate accounts?

 

I have more Tanki Online account. Their ranks are very low, so I don't bother waste time on playing with them anymore. I created those accounts only to test new features on low ranks. That was for Matchmaking and garage and shop updates, one of two years back.

 

 

 

When did you first join Tanki, and when did you join the forum? Is RIDDLER_8 the first account you ever made?

 

I have first joined Tanki Online on the 2nd May 2015. Since then, I decided to play Tanki Online every day. For me, Tanki Online is like a progressive adventure because I progress through my ranks and I enjoy the constant progress of Tanki Online's updates through the years. I watch V-Logs every week. I have seen them all since V-Log Episode #1. My first Tanki Online account was actually Riddler8 that I created in 2015 on Miniclip before creating this one. For some strange reason, this Miniclip account does not exist anymore. Instead, I will always use my one and only Tanki Online account named RIDDLER_8.

 

 

 

I could take the trouble of looking at your profile and checking which turret/hull is most used, but I'm too lazy to do it ;) So, what's your favourite turret to use, and your favourite hull? Do you like specific combinations of turret/hulls? Or perhaps any alterations you like to use? Feel free to be specific here.

 

Right now, my favourite turret is Gauss and my favourite hull is Viking. The turret with the most experience is Isida, and the hull with the most experience is Mammoth.

 

For alterations, its difficult to say because I use one or two alterations for every turrets. My garage is all M4 because I have purchased all the turrets, hulls and drones. All my turrets have been upgraded to M4, except for Gauss. Gauss is M3+. My drones are also M3+, and I always upgrade everything at the same time when there are sales during events and holidays. I do like to use specific combinations of any turret or any hull. It depended on how I choose my playing style according to the maps I play on.

 

 

 

What is your opinion on MM vs. PRO-battles? Which do you play more often?

 

I like both matchmaking and pro battles. I mostly play matchmaking battles due to the fact that I want to complete daily and weekly missions and also take part in challenges. Sometimes, I play pro battles when I feel like it. I play matchmaking battles the most.

 

 

 

Where do you think Tanki is headed in the next couple years? Do you think it will shut down? You can get into some detail here ;)

 

We all know by now that Tanki X will be discontinued at the end of 2019 and officially shut down in 2020. However, Tanki Online shall live forever. Developers said that Tanki Online will always receive ongoing updates. With the release of the HTML5 version of Tanki Online, developers said that updates will be developed and released at a much faster rate. So, yes, Tanki Online will always remain open for us all to enjoy. Tanki Online is heading into HTML5, and remade turrets and hulls. All tanks and skins are being remade with updated graphics. That's where Tanki Online is heading. I know this information because I always watch weekly V-Logs when they are released on YouTube.

 

 

 

There we have it folks - Tanki will live forever! (prophecy spoken by our good friend Riddler).

For Tanki to live forever, the developers will have to continue releasing updates. What are some things that you would like to see added to this game?

 

The answer to that is complicated, but I have written so many threads and posts over the course of the four years that I play Tanki Online. My most requested suggestion is that juggernaut is too weak, so it should be buffed up with more armor. I complained about that so much since the first release of the solo juggernaut mode. Now we have team juggernaut mode. I would also like to have the team juggernaut mode be introduced in pro battles like with all other battle modes.

 

 

 

Yes, I have noticed that you have been active in the I&S section, particularly with ideas regarding Juggernaut and Gold Boxes  :ph34r: You obviously have a lot of ideas for change, but are there any past updates that you would like taken out of the game?

 

To be honest with you, no I do not want any past updated to be removed from the game. The only tiny update that I would like to be reset to its default state is the Reworked CP Mode. I 

do not like the roll back on control points when enemies captures them.

 

 

 

You mentioned in the first question that millions of players around the world currently play Tanki. Whether or not that is true, we all know that hundreds of thousands of accounts have fallen into disuse. Why do you think that the player count of Tanki is dropping?

 

It is true that players from all countries around the world play Tanki Online. I am not quite sure exactly the reason why the number of players on Tanki Online are dropping. One suggestion that I have is that developers are remaking all the tanks with updated graphics. When this update is released, developers said that more and more players would be encourages to create new Tanki Online accounts to play this game. When this update is released, the number of players playing Tanki Online will rise again.

 

 

 

That’s interesting - perhaps the developers are going to start advertising again.

So, judging from your previous answers, I would say you think that the developers are doing a well-nigh perfect job?

 

Yes, that's 100% true. Developers are going a dazzling job with update. They brought up the matchmaking system, the new recently released overdrives, Tanki Online mobile, and now the newly released HTML5 version of Tanki Online. Developers are still yet to release one of the best updates yet to come. That is to remake tanks. Remaking tanks involves designing turrets and hulls with much better graphics. Follow the new on every Friday V-Log episode.

 

 

 

And now, two questions that are very hotly debated here in the forum (actually, they aren't, I just want to see what you think). First, which is Gauss more like - a mix between Striker/Thunder, or a mix between Shaft/Thunder?

 

I really like the Gauss turret. That's why I use it a lot. Gauss is a mix breed turret between Shaft and Thunder.

 

 

 

Second, the biggest question of all time (again, not really :P). Hunter vs. Viking. What do you think? Which is better?

 

Viking is best for its rapid overload overdrive which is best used for spray shooting clusters of enemies at once. Zapping enemies dead quickly helps you survive, earn points and get you a high score. Hunter is more suitable when capturing flags and balls for daily missions that require flag and rugby ball captures. In my point of view, overall, Viking is better than Hunter.

 

As @Jwimmer observed, @RIDDLER_8 sent several random lines of text after each questioning session, such as:

“I have done my very best to answer all of your questions.”

“Please feel free to drop gold boxes for me in private pro battles.”

“You’re welcome. I am always here to help.”

I was not expecting this interview to drop at all! @RIDDLER_8 is one of the most interesting people of the Tanki Forum, so seeing some additional info about him expanded my view of him quite a bit. Alternativa surely made mistakes. You name it:

 

Tankoins, neither side (P2W and F2P) can gain them easily.

 

Team Juggernaut, my favorite mode now has no-brain mults. I still prefer being solo.

 

Module price skyrocketted, almost shattered my dream module build.

 

So many rebalances that angered a portion of tankers and ended up quitting the game permanmently.

Nice work!  I enjoyed the interview., felt like it had better flow than mine lol, but I think you could have changed the color of the font of either yours or Riddler's text to differentiate it better.  There were some minor formatting issues, but overall the piece was excellent.

Good luck with the application process!  I will not be playing much, so you're right about me not reaching the rank.  However, I doubt that there will be competition (hopefully not, that would be terrible!) on the road to reporterhood.  If there is, that's another thing to add to my funny life stories.
