Not to be boastful, but I was expecting to get first after having spent 2 days on it. Thanks though.

To me, this is better than any hand drawn entry in the winning list.

This is my entry, I did the entire thing with pens. The part I am proudest of is the tank's paint. :)

Disagree with me on what?? I did not draw anything on mine, only colored. The detailing in the dirt is not even drawn, it is from color pencil. Everything else is the same....

To be completely honest I believe the judging shouldn't be held by 2 or 3 people and instead by the community/tankers to vote for what they think is the best entry.

Tanki has just replied to my email and tells me that my submission received LESS POINTS than the top 5 entries... What kind of game has Tanki come to?? Complete bs.

No worries man, I'll remove my reply. Hey by the way, do you think my submission violated any rules in any way?? Because I think it is a perfectly fine entry that should have placed in top 3...don't you agree? 

 

I'm not a judge but as far as I see it . based on past contest which I have been in . yours is perfectly fine , there is nothing wrong with it.

I wouldn't give an opinion on the organization of the contest, but I would try to answer your questions with my little experience of being former contests admin, so bear with me

 

To be completely honest I believe the judging shouldn't be held by 2 or 3 people and instead by the community/tankers to vote for what they think is the best entry.

Letting everyone vote sounds very promising, the only drawback is that the voting would be rigged as some participants might scout votes in an unfair way, vastly liked players would get more votes, disliked/unknown get less...

 

That's less likely to happen if the judges are CMs or other helpers/admins that agreed to judge.

from my own perspective ,your entry is great, color gradient is top notch, I don't think I would make better art.I have some remarks about some walls that lack more shadow, and the coloring should have been more dark in all parts not facing the sun considering its position for realistic effect.

 

But I think the template is by default not advantageous because it features the sun and ghosts and isn't really calling in the Halloween vibe which is the main theme 'especially with lack of pumpkin, night them.... In all the winning entries in both categories the template you have chosen wasn't featured in any of those

 

This doesn't deny the quality of the work but will definitely get less points in regards of how close it is to the theme.

 

Other factors might play in as well, like the number of judges (the more they are the better to have a more harmonized rating), also the number of entries and the order of judging the entries, as well as the anchor score set by one of the judges, that might slightly affect others' ratings.

 

For the choice of judges. I would like to point out that the helpers  'Contest organizers'  judge in official community contests  (made by the helpers, for instance previous Coloring contest) , for planned official contests (made by CMs..etc)  the case is different with some exceptions.

 

I think I did cover some parts of the puzzle, I do certainly wish you better luck next time!

Honestly pathetic judging by judges, there are many other entries I believe this has not been very well judged upon but a good win to all!

I don’t know about the process, the voting process, or the rules, but if the entry is valid, I think the CM should review the issue to see if the voting results were unjust to baconboy, in part because many have said that the paint looks very good. Personally I’m not sure about the paint, it looks good, but I don’t know the judging criteria.

its not just him its all who entered and followed the rules . which were only to colour it and not add other things to it.

If the template is by default not advantageous, then it is not ethical on any level for tanki to even use that template in the contest.... different players have different visions on which one they think they can work the best with, and for me, it  was the viking-hammer  template. Also, the rules do not  mention ANYTHING about following the Halloween theme- just straight up color the template. Also, the shadows are actually dark enough. If you look at the real picture in person you can see it is solid black. Because I took  the picture under white light there is a slight glare on the left half of the picture which has made everything look more pale. Even then, the use of shadows in the top 5 entries were minimal/lacking so that should not have been a problem for my entry. I have emailed tanki already for an explanation and all they told me as that my submission received less points than the top 5. I asked for an explanation, and it  has already been 12 hours with no response. Judging is clearly unjust, and i personally feel it to a great extent, after having spent so much more time on it then I should have. Not to mention this is the very first tanki contest/competition I have ever taken part in.

he did have the right if he wanted it to paint it. it was also allowed . it would have looked cool in water colours.

 

it now seems like nothing will be changing on this contest .

Thanks man. For the paint on the hammer-viking, I mimicked gladiator. I was expecting to get first actually, after all the effort I put in.
