I like the update. Makes Thunder (and soon, Vulcan and Smoky) realistic. Also, they are meant to be mid-ranged turrets, so the update further emphasizes that fact as it makes it harder to hit targets at long range.

I agree, the moment a nerf is announced, no matter which game it is, everyone just goes ahead and fears for their life and blames the devs on killing something.

Taking away the unique instant hit feature for the sake of realism is a bad way to go.

Thunder now is just a coconut shooter. Which means that Vulcan will become a pea shooter and smoky will become a tennis ball shooter.

Also what about shaft, railgun, Gauss (sniper), and hammer? Those are instant hits.

Shaft, Railgun, and Gauss have to be instant-hitters because they are sniper turrets. They were meant to excel in long ranged combat. Hammer on the other hand, is a short ranged weapon with the second-highest impact force in the game (2nd only to Gauss). Making it insta-hit emphasizes why the impact force is so high. Also, there's no reason to make Hammer's pellets travel if the intended target usually is right in front of you.

Devs did this to make thunder have a slightly higher skill floor, and emphasise the midfield role.

However, I believe it was also done to reduce thunders popularity and force players to change turrets, and open the way for shot effects.  More money.  Hey, at least you get to change the coconut to blue or red in the future.

This is true.  Personally, I don’t think there is a large impact, but if this happened to smoky, I would be furious.

I still think the devs should revert this idiotic update. No one wanted it.

All I am saying is that when I was about to buy thunder m3, my friend insisted that I don't because he said it wouldn't be helpful since every tanker has protection to it and fastforward one month, we have another update that nerfs thunder out.

I think that's a really accurate description of tanki updates these years.

2019 was probably the worst year for updates in TO history.

·Challenges

·Gauss turret

·Archipelago map

·Seige mode

·Hyperion drone

·Vulcans DPS drastically dropped when OH.

·Freezes freeze effect gets nerfed into oblivion.

·Mammoths immortality gets removed.

·Thunders instant hit gets replaced with a projectile.

·MM battles shortened to 7 minutes. And winning conditions shortened to where they can end way too quickly.

There's probably a lot more that I missed. But this list enough is more than probably in all the other years combined.

Only bad updates that weren't in 2019 were:

·Removal of option to rent alterations for crystals. 2018.

·Removed ability to see other players premium account display. 2017.

·Global update. 2016.

·Kill/score penalty for self destructing. 2014 (thankfully was removed in 2019)

I have a feeling the same thing will happen to smoky.

yes indeed, after the last v-log we know it now and it is fric king ridiculous to do such a thing. They are trying to please the wasp, hornet and hunter/rail players. These have been the biggest cry babies but also their bread and butter. The parkour family...All these crappy changes to the game is the reason 10's of K's of players have left the game. Except for the parkour family and a few hundred die hard fans...

And yet those wasp & hornet users often use rail - which has a ridiculous impact and can almost turn your tank right around.

Does scout alteration have same impact as stock?  If so... another ridiculous situation as those shots come in crazy fast.

It looks to me like scout alt is same as sledgehammer. Since they turned thunder to sh it, sledgehammer was a waste of time and effort. They need to do the same to rail...yes?

They turned thunder into a sissy asss turret, slowing down what looks like a fric king pellet instead of a projectile.

They turned thunder into a weak turret, slowing down what looks like a pellet instead of a projectile.

Hmm... Do you still see armies of Grizzly after Thunder's nerf?

Rename the Thunder alterations to Subcaliber Coconuts, Little Coconut Charging Machine and Sledgehammer Coconuts. Coconuts are "Round", anyway.

Well that's degrading. But at that same time it does make sense.

I'm a Thunder user. It's my favorite Turret despite the Projectile shots update from the past.

  • I think Thunder Projectile Shot is pretty balanced in the game. It is still very strong.
  • With Sledgehammer, you can shoot quite fast.

When we had instant shot of Thunder, developers and Tankers both saw that it was too powerful.

  • It kept hitting tankers from afar, and we couldn't located where the Thunder user was coming from.
  • With a projectile, the opponents can have an idea of which direction the shot is coming from.
    • This makes Thunder strong, but also balanced for the enemy.

I believe tankers find Thunder still kind of overpowered even with it's projectile and damage reduction with distance. I think it's because of its reload speed and splash damage. I hope it doesn't become too weak in the future. But I will always keep it as my favorite Turret.
