Does it seem better than Lions/Wolves/bears War doing it this way?

I do not know. There is pros and cons for each option, we need to understand what is the purpose behind the current wars rules.
In the 2 previous wars, the intention from the developers was to have them linger more than 10 days. As you know they finished faster than anticipated as the number of turn was not fixed but linked to the 200 points goal.
I think in this current war they addressed this issue by setting the number of turns from the start: 14 in total and the end of the war on the 24th, the winner being the one with the highest number of point. If you kept the previous way to calculate points per turn, you will see that Santas being further ahead and too far to catch up with. With the current system your lost points can be regained back quicker by "penalising" territory loss, and also the maximum number of total point is limited. It is a solution to keep a fairer balance between the faction with a hope of recovery. If hope stays high, players stays motivated to play till the end (if they understand the way that point are calculated).
With container given at each turn and a minimum of stars to reach, the devs keep the war going on, even for the currently losing faction, as everyday you get container no mater what your faction is performing.

An another option would have been to accumulate only the number of point gained per turn. This would have kept faction points lower and minimised the gap points smaller. Maybe this would have been increased the risk of a draw. But 2 factions could also have been fighting the same 5 points map in alternate manner and power-leveled their score in the process.
This war it to keep players busy for 14 days and provides many containers. It looks like they are paying F2P players to stay and play the game ?

I think this is better.

The only problem I have is that you can play and accumulate many stars during the day, and vote only at the end. So players can hide stars and your real intention of vote. I think it will be better if this was not the case.

We need to understand the meaning of the word war. Who wins the war is who wins the final battle, not who won severall battle during the war. Does Hitler won the war? Or others because they won a few battles?

Me too, I want the snowman faction to win the Christmas 2019 war so that I can grab all those additional containers. Keep fighting hard snowmen and defeat santas and elves.

You can't beat what tanki decide to win. Everything is written before starting this war. So chill.

❄️  Previous war paint

When we had the WAR last year, we had told you that the winners paint would be removed with the arrival of the new WAR. Well, the new WAR is here… BUT, we’ve decided to let you keep last year’s paint as part of the legacy of the WAR in Tanki Online. Note that this only applies to last year’s WAR winners paint. From this year, the winners paint will be removed as explained in the original announcement.

Omg really? This is awesome, Thank you. One of the few good moves Tanki mad so far. THANK YOU.

It's like Tanki put buyers in one faction and noobs in the other two factions.

ofc, you should write a book about tanki conspiracies, it will be big.

We will hold a giveaway for members of the winning faction with following prizes: Nokia 4.2 smartphone, 5 XT containers, 5 Railgun Prime skins, a bundle of 28 500 tankoins. We’ll also be holding another giveaway where a lucky member from each of the losing factions will win a Nokia 2.2 smartphone (1 per faction).

In the giveaway, will this prize be divided among several winners or just one winner?

Maybe it'll be divided between 5 winners? 5,700 tankoins between each dude.

I said it’s “like”, not that it is. I have 3 mains and each got different paints.

My stronger account got Santas’ paint and I got Premium from a container and have more containers to open for the final battles if Santas are about to win.

Then I have an alt that also with Santas, that I started playing few days ago and got Premium too.

Never purchased in the game, but I tried before and still have that Vanilla card, so I may try again. I have nothing against buyers.

Most non-buyers aren’t noobs.

Okay, I changed it from 'buyers' to 'pros'. And I said 'like'. not that they did this.

Pedro is a good player and he was sentenced to the Snowmen faction.

But look at the map, how can Elves and Snowmen not understand that fighting eachother and scathering territories is not good?

The same thing happened in the previous WAR, then Bears tried hard, but noob Wolves just didn't want to confront Lions.

I think part of the problem is the map:

noobmap.png

The territories surrounding Snowmen and Elves capitals are very distorted and thus confusing.

The thing is that Elves and Snowmen made it easy for Santas when they decided to fight each other.

Count how many territories Santas are defending, then count how many territories Elves and Snowmen are defending.

It’s because most people don’t go through the forums and attack whatever area they want mostly to get their daily containers.

I’m not saying it’s a conspiracy, genius. I’m just saying it could be one of the reasons. And I’m also saying that they could design a better map next time.

The current map looks very well thought out and it's sophisticated, doesn't look random at all.

The basis is good...

Spoiler

But the territories on the top part of the map are smaller, more rounded and more aligned, while the territories at bottom are bigger, have weird shapes, and are less aligned.

I'm saying that maybe that's why the lower factions can't figure out the map.

Genius, I never said it was, I said "ǝʞıן"  (like).
The map is better like this than standard hexagon. It does have features that can mislead, for example Cologne looks like it is further away, and in a previous turn the Snowmen faction fail to see it leaving it unprotected. But this is how it is with map, you have to study them.
