In less than 24 hours, we’ll be leaving 2019 behind us and heading into the new year.

 

This year was a special one. Tanki Online celebrated its 10th anniversary.

 

In case you didn’t know the story, Tanki Online started out as a showcase demo, and was never intended to actually be a full-fledged game.

But then something weird happened. People kept playing it. YOU kept it alive!

 

This has probably been one of the busiest years ever for Tanki Online. We’ve implemented a ton of new content in our quest to keep the game fresh for you. And as always, there have been hits and misses. Some of the content —such as the recent WAR for Christmas— turned out to be really popular. Some other things… a bit less.

 

So here’s our promise to you for 2020.

 

We’re gonna keep working hard on keeping Tanki Online fun, so you can keep playing and enjoying it. We can’t promise that we won’t make mistakes, or that we’ll get things perfect right away, but we’ll try our best.

 

From you, we ask for just one thing — help us develop the game in a way that is both enjoyable and sustainable. If you hate a feature, ask yourself, “Do I hate this because it actually harms the game and the community?” And if you do, take the time to write your feedback clearly and in a logical way. This will make it easier for us to understand it and make sense of your arguments. Do this, and everybody wins — you, Tanki Online, and us.

i think some people hate the game just to hate it at this point, it is not even that bad
games always undergo changes, you can't expect a game to be the same now as compared to 10 years ago
but still, some aspects of old tanki are still memorable which is why people want them back, including me

i like the game but i think the biggest mistake that tanki made in the last 1.5 years was to push ahead with Matchmaking without considering the feelings of community players like myself who bonded with one another in maps that they loved to play on. I lost a ton of friends made in tanki from all over the world but yes i still love the game. MM had to stay but i think more could have been done to help players stick around more. i think tanki was fixated on pushing to a mobile, playable and fixed 6-7min battles that kept changing without much consideration to many players. Nives had to bear the brunt of the complaints. I think a ton of players were ignored. So will tanki developers really listen??? Cos it feels like they just said they will listen but they didn't really. Having said that, i think that tanki did work hard to develop alot of cool features into the game that many people enjoy such as overdrives, new weapons, better looking maps, drones, etc. I think the part about listening to the community still needs alot more work.

If tanki didn't get any new updates and stayed the same for the past 10 years no one would be playing it. It would become boring and stale. In my opinion I believe a majority of the update to the game are good and refreshing but I also agree some changes need a little more thinking from the community (cough cough strikers uranium alt). Overall the devs are doing a good job and they should continue to put out new content. But they should also look back to the community and see their thoughts and opinions on how it can possible be improved.

Happy New Year, everyone!  I wish you all the best of joy and happines in this new year! We'll keep the game alive for as long as we can, becuase we love TO and the amazing dev team! 

 

I'm glad the dev team is doing their best to improve our experience for us players, and I hope they'll do even better this year. Mistakes were made, for sure. I think that a way to improve updates is to let a few certain players to test them, like it was done with the Hyperion drone. Let's wait and see what the devs got in the package for us this year.

Anyway, it's all their choices.  The only decision for the players to make is to leave or stay.

I think all players appreciate the efforts the developers of this game are making to implement new changes and keep this game as fun as it has always been. However there are some issues that you need to consider when planning for new changes. Issues that have to do with the "function" of the garage items. Let me give you an example, when you introduced drones I got the "Assault" drone based on its function as it suits my playing style. I then spent countless coins to have it upgraded. You can't simply change its function now!! This doesn't make any sense. It is like all the crystals that I have spent on this item just vanished for nothing!

 

One more thing, please please please fix this "0" damage.

It would be not that bad year, but if you want honest review as you mentioned in "special message" So I will help you.

First of all stop digging money from people? When it will be enough? Main income from this game is parkour fights, people purchases milions of mines, they spend there thousands of repair kits and they keep buying it. This circle goes again and again. That 5 seconds immortality update has nothing to do with matchmaking or pro battles. It's only so miners in parkour maps would die faster so they use more mines and you would get money. At least make an option to disable that thing if you find it usefull in game no matter how wierd it is. From now on when some one spawns let's say in special event mode "deathmatch" the one who spawned first will just kill near by guy because he can't harm him for 2 seconds after he spawns. That's dumb update in any case but as I mentioned mefore, make an option to disable it in pro battle, you can force struggle people in matchmaking as much as you want. Every parkour fighter will agree with me.

Second kinda good but also uncomfortable updatei s "team A and team B" in html5 It's good for hornet over drive users but also would be great if there would be option with that thingy like "Blue team only" or something in battle settings. 

I'll mention 3 things only because this message will get very long...it's long already but stil third thing is Hunter Overdrive. Even in V-LOG game creator said that it's way more powerful overdrive than viking. It's so true now viking is realy nerfed, I can use hunter overdrive 4 times in one game and viking overdrive if I get a lot of score 2 times max. Unless I use driver drone, but that doesn't change fact that viking is super nerfed. To avoid this you could make paid for crystals alterations that you could just change type of overdrive you have and also near nickname it would display small icon maybe. Another thing that's missing is R button from flash..in new html5 version there is no R button so you can't see protections of player that you are about to shoot. You must look up nickname in tab list...that's pretty anoying. That's it from me, great work in 5 years from 120k online to 12k I guess you didn;t even notice.

No there woudn't be any new year map again and the deathmatch mode will come back soon!

I still love Tanki, but I do have some suggestions.

1. Allow players to organize their garage. For example, I have accumulated so many paints that I will never use. In a game, I have to scroll through them to find the ones I want. I would love to dump some of them, or arrange it so my favorite paints are toward the front and more accessible.

2. Rotate the maps more frequently. Right now, we play on a few maps over and over (Aleksandrovsk, Barda, Highways, etc.). We miss some of the other maps we saw before Matchmaking (Sandbox, Esplanade, etc). 

3. Remove the new spawn-kill protection. I don't know anyone who likes it. 

4. Make dropped gold boxes worth more than 1,000 crystals at higher levels. For people at Field Marshal to Legend rank, 1000 crystals isn't very much.

totally agree with you on this . its not right when a hull has an advantageous over the others ( such as Hornet) . make this game even so there is no special treatment for one and not the others.

we also understand money keeps this game alive . but it can also kill it.  when you have loot box's . giving certain players who ( like myself buy ) it hinders the game from others who can't afford to pay with tankions . but can buy with crystals , seeing they have so many and nothing to buy / spend them on. make the shop available to all players to purchase items in tankions or in crystals . been wanting this for some time.

I like the Spawn-kill protection, I've been in a lot of MM battles where the enemy team does nothing but spawn kill and when this happens most players leave the battle. Now with Spawn-kill protection most players and me can actually fight back and have a chance to get them out their base and keep the battle going. I don't understand why some dislike this and I'm sure they been in the same predicament as me.

Since Tanki Online provides a MatchMaking system, you could think of developing a MatchMaking system that includes ranks like other games (Bronze, Silver, Champion, Platinum, Diamond, etc.). That'd especially benefit the eSports scene if you could put XpBp into MatchMaking and provide the rank system in it too.

The updates i like is the new update anti-spawn protection and some new missions things i and some other don't like the vice versa of weekly mission award as you guys know not only me but others are also non buyers or their parents don't allow to buy stuffs in game and that was the last way to get containers in good amount :( and the changes of madness map make people unhappy I know that you guys remove madness underground because of anti cheat system but you guys can make it back and i hope that madness map will be back this year :)

I don't know if Tanki has ever removed an update, but they really really should remove the anti-spawn protection, or whatever it's called, It completely ruins Matchmaking and XP/Bp
