Proposal for ennemy display on HTML5 minimap

Recommended Posts

Hi all !

I would suggest to bring more interest for snipers and close-ranged players sneaking behind ennemies in HTML5 games by changing the minimap display for ennemies:

Every time an ennemy player spawns back in game, his icon is unseen on the minimap until getting damage. The icon for an ennemy player would only show up on the minimap once direct/splash damage has been dealt on this ennemy, and remains visible until destruction or til the end game timer do us part.

This would add an equivalent to the "enemy spotted" in-game communication function between players found in many other games and reward the players who know the art of hiding or sneaking behind opponents.

Thank you all!

Valid.

This change to the radar system would definitely increase the usability of the radar feature in HTML5. By not showing enemy tanks that still have spawn protection on it, it would make it so snipers (and even close-range combat players) don't waste their time trying to kill an enemy that has spawn protection. The only problem with your idea is that the Developers may intentionally be wanting it impossible to tell who has spawn protection, and who doesn't, and if this is the case, your idea will be rejected. We will hand your idea over to the Developers though, and they can make this decision for themselves.

Actually the idea is that the display of the icon is not linked to the end of the spawn protection. The icon would be invisible beyond the spawn protection. What would make the icon appear would be taking damage, anytime after the spawn protection ends.

Thank you!

That makes sense. Not sure how useful it would be in Tanki, but I like the idea.

How about implementing a timer here.? Like an enemy is visible in mini-map for only 20 seconds after receiving damage and then go invisible again if he/she doesn't receive another set of damages in that 20 seconds time frame.

Definitely a good idea.

Fog of war.  Other games do it - TO should too.
