Ares sounds cool.  What design program are TO using?  I know it's not Sketchup, but looks like Blender or 3DS.

Also looks like a lot of polygons.

No. I wasn't angry because the vlog was late.

When I clicked the video, it led me to a one hour long video (a recording of a tournament match or something). It was fixed in a few seconds but I couldn't delete the post. Apologies if I sounded like a jerk.

It is such good news to hear that the Ares hull will be released at the end of April 2020. Developers forgot to mention if the new HTML 5 version of Tanki Online was finished. That's a piece of important news that I would like to hear.

1. Ares is going to be a Heavy hull.

2. It's Overdrive is going to be a so-called "B.F.G." . Upon activating the Overdrive, the hull fires a projectile out of the cannon on it's front. The projectile travels for a very brief period of time, and it deals damage to any nearby enemies. The projectile will also heal teammates it passes by.

That's interesting. I like the idea of a projectile rocket being fired from the Ares hull and the magic ability for this projectile to heal team mates when the rocket flies by them. That is a very unique and interesting overdrive to use. It differs from Wasp's bomb and all other overdrives currently in existence. I like the idea of Ares firing a rocket to destroy enemies by inflicting huge damage and healing team mates like Isida or Dictator's overdrive effect.

i have doubts the finished product will be so detailed.

if they add it to the game like that, it won't fit in unless they update all other visuals in the game.

Well, they said that the current graphics will be overhauled, but we did not hear anything about this matter since it was last mentioned.

2. The "B.F.G." appears in other games. I read in a forum post that the devs said its Overdrive is going to be a "B.F.G." .

It's not actually going to fire a rocket. It's going to be some sort of a plasma ball, which creates tentacles that hook onto enemies in range to deal damage to them, or tentacles that hook onto teammates in range to heal them.

See the tentacles? Ares' Overdrive is going to be the same.

I believe they said in the last v-log smokey would be getting the same treatment thunder received, meaning the shots travel over time. why would they do this to smokey? this is something that shouldn't change as smokey's mechanics are integral to the gun.

Same with thunder. Still don't know why thunder got the projectile and smoky is getting one.

Will be worse for smoky.  At least if Thunder misses it can do splash damage.  Smoky doesn't even have that - it needs a precision shot to be effective at all.

I think the hulls and turrets are created as very high poly / detail models and then those models are used to create the textures for lower poly / detail game versions.

There might be highly detailed master models for the XT skins too, and the possibility of Ultra versions of them.

Well actually a plasma ball that generates tentacles is even better and more realistic that the rocket idea. Me too, prefers a plasma ball that is fired from the Ares hull in a similar way to firing a rocket. The only difference is that the plasma ball splits up and forms tentacles to damage enemies and heal team mates. This would be a healing mechanic similar to Isida.

Speaking about Isida, it would be cool to have other turrets heal team mates like Isida, but in a different manner.

May not have splash - but "up close" it gets owned by fire/ isida/ freeze/ twins/ hammer/ ricco just like Thunder.  In both cases they will lose.

It would be a good idea for an alteration that adds very powerful splash damage and a strong knock out effect to Smoky. That would make Smoky more useful and beneficial at long range shooting because the damage effect of Smoky weakens at long distances. By having an alteration for both Splash damage and knock out effect to knock out the aim of enemies would be very ideal for Smoky.

The means that Smoky would become useless at short range due to the self damage, but that would render Smoky suitable for medium and long range shooting.

While this may be true, smoky still at least has a fighting chance, while thunder is as good as dead if the enemy gets within its splash radius unless the attacker is really weak or really low on health.

 

Still, neither should get a projectile. The instant hit feature was thunders only unique aspect over the other splash turrets and also Smokeys only way to compete with long rangers at their range.

Its either Maya or 3Ds Max, difficult to tell from such a cropped view. From memory I recall them using 3Ds Max in a previous episode though I could be wrong.

The final game model wont have as many polys, this high poly model will be used to help 'bake' texture maps on to the final low poly game model which will have a decent amount of perceivable detail passed down from this high poly version.
