Capture the flag

Came back to tanki from a time away. Appreciate the significant and varied changes which add many positive dimensions to the game play.

I can appreciate the shift in Capture the Flag from winners-take-all to a more balanced scoring system. But I've seen many capture the flag games now that are so defensive that the only losers are the odd one's out who actually try to capture the flag and are barraged by 6 vs 1 or 200 mines.

Also I've personally captured 2 of 3 flags, assisted greatly with our 3rd flag, and won the game 3 flags to 2 flags, only to find myself with a last place or 2nd last place score, while those who just stayed back in one place and keep firing and killing getting 10 times my score, not only on the winning team, but also on the losing team! Wow! Granted, there is value in kills. But 10 times my flag efforts? And on the losing team too?

Wonder if there is any place to reward the winners a little bit more.

Wonder if there is any place to reward flag captures a little bit more.

Thanks.

The devs have made it clear with the introduction of the MMS scoring system that they don't care about teamwork, all they care about is TDM. It's honestly infuriating how I could capture a flag that makes all the difference between a win and a loss and all I get is like 50 points.

With the current reward system, winning and losing is not as important. In some ways, it is good for f2p players. Kills are important so make sure you are competitive in that department. If your team is getting slaughtered early on, leave. It will most likely, not end well. Isidas and dictators can also gain points without kills so if you want to use those, you can. Don't go for flags or points if your teammates are camping for kills.

I know what you are talking about, and I have experienced such a scenario often. However, I personally find it easier to capture the flag, when everyone else is camping, as when I manage to sneak around them and take the flag, none of them are mobile enough to chase after me. The big downside is that my teammates won't either help me out with the flag, and on several occasions, after taking a flag to ally territory, I die, and my teammates just ignore the flag, and don't pick it up. This allowed me to come from where I spawned on the other side of the map to there, and I still captured the flag. But in immediate enemy territory it is harder to take the flag in such a battle.

Thank you. Now I understand that capture the flag is not necessarily about capturing the flag any more.

I still see some good capture the flag games, but even then, the points go to those who sit and kill. Well, strange but now I know.

Now, I wonder if I should continue to get the flag and get minimal points, or just join the rest and pick off easy kills, either by snipping or by sneaking from behind. As Shakespeare once said, game play or game points, that is the question.

Yup, in many game modes you see everybody acts like it is TDM. Honestly, I see people in ASL who drive past the flags and seem to just not care about them. And then there I am tryharding to carry my team for some stupid mission ?

You just answered your own question.

Unless you play light hulls with trooper drone and have such a fast connection you are loading before enemies do - sit back and enjoy the view.

the fact that battles are so short means theres not a lot of incentive to play for the win. Just play and if you win, great! if not, on to the next. Also, missions push ppl into modes they dont enjoy, so they probably spend more time shooting tanks in those modes
