Ok so, basically every MMO game has to either market with some sort of P2W or P2P mechanics or cosmetics  in order to stay afloat financially.

This topic will focus on the P2W mechanics of tanki online. My question is based on weather or not tanki has gone too far with these mechanics, for example, to the point where a f2p player can not be expected to compete with a P2W player.

let me known your opinion, btw I’ll do my best to stay neutral in this discussion.

Also, I understand that this topic has been brought up in other parts of the forum, but I want this specific one to be heard

It is possible for a F2P to compete with P2W bois, but it is hard.

Not really hard in the beginner and low ranks. You just need to be lucky with containers is all. Of course the lower the rank range you're in, the less luck you you really need to obtain sufficient funds.

There's no such thing as a "P2W" scale. It either is or it isn't. Tanki is P2W because spending real money on the game definitely gives you benefits that would be extremely hard to receive as a free player. That doesn't mean you can't compete as a free player though.

I think it’s also worth noting though that(especially after the format battles update vlog) the devs are trying to hide their real intentions, claiming that PLing (power leveling) was the reason they made the change, when in reality it was to get more players to play MM and non format so they’d face more OP buyers and be prompted to pay more to tanki so the devs could rake in more cash

I like how they mostly lie about why they change certain things. In the V-log they make it sound like everything makes complete sense.

The only thing that separates a "buyer" and f2p player are drones. Do not invest in drones if you're f2p; it's wayyy too expensive to upgrade and obtain batteries. You can easily obtain a strong garage in a f2p account. You must grind x2 fund and special gold events. Like during the April Fools' event, I got over a month of premium, a ton of crystals and supplies. If you're looking to spend a few dollars, buy the battlepass. Do not buy "special bundles". They're cheaper than outright buying crystals from the shop, but they're still outvalued by the battlepass.

Indeed the developers rather want you to cash for power than you to use pro-battle mechanics for power-levelling all for free. ?

It's possible to win lots of games against buyers, but not if you are in a weak team.

Unfortunately there is no balance in matchmaking so that is often what you get.

That is true. However, in a MM battle, the difference between a player with a drone maxed out and you, without a drone is a massacre. Check out the stats of a defender drone maxed out. Currently, on a hornet, vulcan, this combo can drive through your entire team and get 30+ kills in a MM match. Now imagine, going against a team of these players.

There's more to it than that - especially at mid ranks.

There are now so many different factors that add power to your tank (turret, hull, modules, alterations, drones) that F2P tankers have to make choices - can't have it all.

They must choose between upgrading turret or upgrading hull or upgrading module or buying new hull or buying new turret or buying a new module or buying an alteration or buying a drone or upgrading a drone.

That's a lot of "or"s the F2P tanker has to contend with.  Now change those "or"s to "and"s for a buyer.  The differenceis much bigger than you suggest.

Faced this a number of times.  Even with 2-3 defenders targting the "weak" hornet the hornet won't die.  Just waltzes off with the flag.

I still can't understand post like these cause i just don't see the problem. I'm a lieutenant general who has bought one clan license and nothing else. I have 2 Mk6 2 Mk7-2, 1 Mk7-10 and 2 Mk-7-20. Plus 3 Mk6 modules and 2 Mk5. I have thousands of supplies, four drones and a 9k GS. The only thing i don't have are alterations, but my main point is that I have a 9k GS at lieutenant general and all I bought was a clan license. I worked to get everything else and trust me I have no problem going toe to toe in MM battles with Legends. So yea if anyone wants to explain the P2W problem to me I'm all ears.

I suggest that the battles in MM system should also be chosen on the basis of GS as well apart from the ranks , and yes it does feels unfair to have someone with Mk7 (Basically a Buyer) on a battle where most people (Non-Buyers) are on average having Mk3-5 equipment..

Joining a battle on such basis can reduce the P2W issues since those Buyers would be competing with....Buyers or people of ranks that they can fairly compete with.

You have way above average garage for that rank - to get mk7 by Major General means you had to shell out the last upgrade for m2 before the conversion.  on 5 items?

Either you bought more than you admit to - or you earned a lot of crystals with your buddies in the Clan.

90% of the players at that rank do not have a 9k GS.

Congratulations, you have done very well for your account (rank). You have OP equipment in most MM battles. I hate to say it, but at a certain point as you rank up, you'll play against much stronger opposition. Perhaps, someone with the spectrum protection module, perhaps someone who has used over 100K in health packs, etc. Please check out the profiles of these players, especially the supplies used and the crystals earned. I am just recalling what I faced in previous weeks: boris4311, cat, once and world. Oh and, once and world usually play together. Good luck.

I can understand how you might be a boss in TO combat, but the majority of the player base just can’t rely on that, and as the other guy said, you’re waaaaay better than the average f2p TO player

Let me re-phrase - what was your end-goal of buying the clan license?

I just do my daily missions and then be done. I change the missions on mobile so I don't waste a lot of crystals changing missions so much.

Well, technically you don't need a drone or an alteration to do well in battles. I only have two drones but I'm fine with what I have. Bought Brutus on tanki's birthday last year because it was cheap and why not? I bought driver drone because I thought it was a reasonable price (35k I think) and also that I thought it might help me on certain occasions when I'm on a time crunch.

But for the most part, I don't use drones because I don't need them 24/7 like all the other tryhards.

Almost every player at Legend rank I meet is nearly impossible to kill - they all have drones on... and guess which one it is.

Oof. I'm guessing the defender drone since that thing will allow you to stay alive basically forever even if you're under heavy fire.

Also it seems that legend ranked players are for the most part tryhards based on your comment. I can actually see that happening.
