Waste of great maps

It would be good if a mod could share their opinion on this. I believe many people not only are not fans of matchmaking but despise it. Firstly, if you look at just the number of people playing the game, there used to consistently be 100-120k+ playing at once and now there they are lucky to hit 20k at a peak hour in the day during a festival. The reason for the decrease in players may not entirely be matchmaking, but it sure as hell did not help the cause. Secondly, there are people that put hours into creating a map and if you are not gonna use certain maps like Siege, Lost Temple and some of the extremely popular older ones, what is the point of them? Thirdly, you guys always seem to argue, "No oNE WaNtS to WoRRy AbOuT WhiCH MaP To ChoOSE" but you guys could not be further off the truth, as I have spoken to many players on this matter, they want to have the luxury to choose a map that best suits their equipment and that does not have a battle that is already over or extremely unbalanced. I kindly want to propose a suggestion to the developers, they have chosen to separate the 2 types of battles into Pro and MM. However, it think it would be a better idea to actually bring a small aspect of pro battles in MM, time and map selection. This way, you include the people that "want to get into a battle as quick as possible for any mode" and the people that want to choose their battles while not letting certain maps die. The funds should be the way matchmaking already is. Now in terms of restrictions, you could still have pro battles for the really picky people that don't want drugs, etc..

As for the people that abuse this system, the answer is simple, just discipline them and these players only account for very small portion of the game.

Matchmaking has a specific set of requirements for maps, meaning that not all of the 70+ maps in the game are suitable to be used in it. At the moment the current list of maps was specifically selected and edited to fit the MM gameplay. I absolutely agree that maps like Siege, Lost Temple and many others are cool, but for whatever readon the game designers do not consider them suitable for MM. Also, you have to realise that adding more maps means that whenever there's an update affecting map design (like addition of the nuclear supply), each and every map needs to be edited, so more maps means more work.

That being said, I personally don't understand the logic in choosing maps for MM. On one hand there are great maps like Novel and Gubakha which have interesting level design and are of similar size to current MM maps, yet are not used. On the other hand there is Sandbox, Sandal and Highland, which are tiny in their original form, yet got massive changes to make them (arguably) suitable for MM. And there's also Massacre, Highways and Brest, which are kept in MM despite having terrible level design and being hated by most players. This was mentioned over and over on the forums, but the reason for keeping these maps in the game remains a mystery.

Some of the unused maps are used occasionally during special events though, like the recent uses of Berlin, Lost Temple, Gubakha, Kolkhoz, etc. As for the others - you can always play custom games on them in PRO battles.

Well, i think developers should make more maps aviable for MM. Some maps need little changes, some maps are good in the original form. I hope i will seee them soon. Also, legacy TO created some MM maps, and some of them looks good for being added. I think developers should check them.
