Downloadable HTML5 client

There are still a lot of improvements that are needed to be done to make HTML5 run smoothly; both the game and the server. I've been playing HTML5 for a year now. Has it been changed from the most recent version? If I've already had it installed, will it update on its own?

Yes it will, just like in Flash.

I like the original client's UI better. Please allow us an option for us to choose which UI we'd like to play in. (The flash UI/HTML UI)

Making pro battles using html5 takes a lot more time than using the flash version.

Its less obvious to see if battles are full or not compared to flash

Add a feature like on flash where it tells you the name of each map on the right-hand side... Since on html5 some people name random games with silly stuff or in a different language so it's easier to find a game quicker.

A way to adjust the camera movement to our own preference, since it is different to the flash version

Just wondering for those who complain about html5 lag/bugs/errors, have you tried playing on html5 recently or was this months ago and you haven't tried it again? I have a pretty low-end computer and don't experience anything that you all are saying for some reason.

Spoiler

Obvious advantages of the HTML5-version:

  • Modern, practical interface.

  • Awesome visual effects, that were not possible earlier.

The battle interface is vastly inferior to Flash.  It has less features, is a poorer overall design, it induces motion sickness because of it's layout, the displays are difficult to read, the colors are all washed out, there is an overall fuzziness as compared to Flashes crispness. it's less convenient in terms of multi-click menus, the fonts are too small and icons to small, and those are just a few of the things I can think of right off the top of my head.

And the lobby/garage interface is even WORSE than the battle interface!

The interface is lame at best and just unusable at worst.  I think the "Modern, practical interface" just in itself is going to drive away a large percentage of players when the change over is forced.  You devs had a perfectly good interface that had been developed for TEN YEARS as a model and you tossed it out...WHY?  Why not make the HTML as good as Flash?  Why make it purposely inferior and then have the gall to call this trash an improvement...a "Modern, practical interface".  ahahahhahahhaaaahhaaaaaa What a joke.

I don't quite understand, why can't Tanki just make the HTML5 version identical (or with a few fixes/updates) to the flash, seeing as 95% of the Tanki community don't even like HTML5?

Imagine you have never played tanki and you open it for the first time and you see 10-years-old Flash interface. Will you give a try to this game?

Just take a look on how new games look like.

I came to a conclusion 95% of tanki players cannot accept change. ?

This is just people in general. In the vast majority of situations, people are reluctant to changing the ways they've always been used to.

If you have specific ideas to improve the HTML5 client, please post them in the Ideas and Suggestions section, thank you.

I thought all HTML beefs, complaints, suggestions, and ideas were being merged with the "What would make HTML awesome for you" thread.

Many negative replies

I would argue that more than half of the players sharing negative feedback haven't even tried playing with the HTML5 client, and are forming their opinions on the basis of other shared positions on the topic. Once people get a chance to play with this new client, their comments will be better fitting.

That is correct, and you can do that as you wish. Either posting it in the I&S or posting it in that topic works fine, and everything will be sorted out.
