If html5 is so great then why is my fps 1/2 or even 1/4 the fps I get with the flash client??

I don't care about either platform, I'm not a fanboy of either, all I know is my game experience sucks bad with html5, this might finally push me out, it's unplayable :(

The game is still under development, you can't expect a fully developed game already. The Devs have been constantly working on the FPS issue for HTML5 version as you might have noticed some increase in the fps the last few days.

Downloaded today.  Launched it.  That took a while.  Tried to enter a battle.  Spun and spun for about 3 minutes.  Then it put me in the queue.  After 7 minutes of waiting in the queue, I gave up.  So far, BAD.

Note: had the image proving my wait time all set to insert here but... another snafu.

Maybe the following article will help you; How to raise FPS on the new HTML5 version

Thank you for sharing the article.  When I try to add the tag to "Target" it says the name specified in the target is not valid; i also tried placing it within the parentheses. Any tips?  Thanks again.

EDIT: all it took was adding a space between the close parentheses and the tag. ?

So now, when in the flash version, if I try to see missions it force-opens a web page with html5 talking points.  Yippee.  At the bottom: "If you have any problems with the new client, try to uninstall all other clients and reinstall the new one. If you still experience any problems, drop an email to our cutsomer support service: help@tankionline.com"

I wouldn't mind trying this but if it makes no difference during play I might just find myself stuck without the flash version at all.  Has anyone done this and seen a positive result in html5 gameplay?

Do little green men actually live on mars. Actually there is more chance of that statement being factual than trusting the devs NOT TO TRY AND HOODWINK you for the 10,000th time.

So, i *can* get good fps on html5 client now, even over 60 fps --- but, and this is a big but -- i have to reduce the size of the window quite a bit, to around 1/3 or 1/4 of the screen!

Just seems really unfair to folks in poorer countries where the more expensive hardware isn't available.  Tanki used to be a great MMOG in part b/c it didn't require a dedicated hardware box or top-line computer parts ... guess that's gone now :(

I've built many computers, even overclocked them quite high.  But it's irrelevant because I play on a laptop.  I guess TO don't care about that. RIP laptop tanki play...

Although i play on a laptop , i do have a gpu (gtx1650) , and i manage 140 fps . I however have to agree what you say , since laptops with no gpu ( by far the most ) or Ryzen ( they got decent internal gpu ) will certainly struggle and are left out by Tanki developers . Tanki used to be a easy to run game , even on the oldest pc's without much issue . That they now abandoning this route is imho completely wrong because they really had something there .

Why does it mention about new maps on this page, whilst I haven't seen any new maps there?

HTML5-new-and-improved-version-of-the-ga

Developers did mention that they were going to create new maps in the future. First, they need to complete all the Legacy, Prime and Ultra skins for all turrets and hulls.

I believe one of the impediments to adding new maps into the game has to do with some technical problems related to Flash. It is possible that those issues are fixed in HTML5, allowing the developers to add new maps once Flash is discontinued.

That page is very misleading though.

Maybe new maps will be added once Flash is discontinued. It's easier to make a map suitable for one version of the game than for two.

Also, maps and skins aren't exactly high on the devs' priorities right now. They will come, but we just have to wait for now. ?

On the contrary, developers metioned that there were not going to add new maps, because the introduction of new maps in MM has no priority right now. The same goes with skins - regarding the future of TO you are regularly mentioning that all skins must be added (something I cannot relate to at all) but skins are simply just a cosmetic item and is not of great importance. To summarize, none of your suggestions are being expected in the near future.

Main reason for this is because of Flash, which hinders the implementation of updates. Once Flash is discontinued, developers have time and free space to release new updates. Among the issues that must be tackled first, however, is the HTML-version of the game since some players aren't content with the current mechanics yet; also certain equipment-parts may undergo some balance-changes and perhaps some bug-patches. Afterwards, visual changes and updates concerning graphics and cosmetics can be implemented.
Because let's agree, smooth and fair gameplay on old graphics is heaps better than a visually-better looking game with lots of bugs and errors; skins and new maps do not make up for that.

What are the high priorities for developers now?

Discontinuing Flash, since hanging on to it delays the development of updates. Once HTML is the standard and only program, new updates can be introduced. I do not know exactly what updates we can expect, but I assume the HTML-version will get some improvements to get players satisfied with the new version of the game. I could vaguely recall that devs wanted to balance Freeze and Hornet (???) so perhaps another balance-update can come to TO as well. Bug-patches may be worked on as well since I still encounter bugs with certain turrets.

That is absolutely true that players will be more satisfied with HTML5 soon when Flash is discontinued. Flash has come and long way and it is time for it to die and be replaced with a much better HTML5 experience.

I think optimisations are great, but i dont really like the new interface. The old one was more "serious" looking, and more military-like. The new one, despite being easier to navigate just looks like some kids game. It reminds me of fortnite a bit, and i dont like this style. (this is just my personal opinion)
