Ah, I forgot to mention that given the recent trend, it's pretty obvious that battle funds will be completely removed from PRO battles in the near future. All PRO battles, no exceptions. This is how it works in all other similar games, and allowing players to continue earning crystals that way is a significant disadvantage for the game.

When it comes to income, however, there is currently a variety of new sources of income, which were lower or did not exist at all in 2018. This includes challenges, special missions, very common double fund events, more common increased gold box drop events (with way greater drop rates than ever before), and possibly more. That being said, there are many more things to spend crystals on in the garage, and many items became more expensive over the years, so judging income based on battle fund alone is completely inaccurate. I'd say at this point battle fund accounts for around 30% of income for most players, but this is just my personal estimate.

I don't think battle funds changed by a significant amount over the past couple years, but either way it doesn't matter as much due to the fact that any such change would only play a small role in the overall economic balance.

How come they're low? We've literally got increased battle funds every month (such as triple battle funds currently going on, up until June 15th).

Also, what's up with those screenshots? They're ages old and no longer relevant.

Yep but you don't get this triple battle funds in pro player parts... The thing with the screenshoots is that, I won way more crystals back then than the professional (legend rank) on the recent screenshot (from "crystals" in TO wiki). I found that concerning because if you compare both of them, he should have win way more than that...

What are you comparing? Pro-battles or MM?
One screenshot is from 2018 pro-battle and low ranks and the others there is no date. We do not know the full time of the battle either is it 15 minutes or 7 minutes?

You should be aware of two things:

  1. PRO battles are no longer an alternative way to play the game. Matchmaking battles are the only battle type there is, while PRO battles are just a custom mode that exists for special events, private battles with friends, testing, or battles with special settings. It's just an extra feature that you can play around with, but it does not replace Matchmaking battles as a source of income.
  2. The battles you compared are completely different. One lasted hours, the other lasted 7 minutes. One was in low ranks, while the other is top ranks. One was around 2017, the other was in 2020. The economy of this game has changed an enormous amount over the years, so while I cannot say for sure whether it became easier or harder for players to earn enough in-game currency to stay competitive, I can definitely say that comparing these two battles shows nothing.

Thank you Maf for your answer but... No,

1 You can earn crystals in Pro battle, and that only thing itslef makes them as much important as any random Matchmaking battles. So, it can replace Matchmaking as a source of income.

2 : The first screenshot was taken at the end of 2018, not 2016 and if you apply some maths exercice (and include ranks income comparaison), to fairly compare those then you can still observ they're a hudge difference. Even if TO's economy have changed, the difference should not be that enormous.

3 : I wasn't asking about the game's economcal evolution but whether or not the battle funds decreased over the years.

Have a good day.

1: Yes you can, but not for long as Maf as pointed out. Plus loser team in Pro-battles have a lower % share of the fund on average compared to the losing team in MM.
2: We clearly lack information on these screenshot, especially the duration of the battle and the number of objectives fulfilled (5 or 7 flags?). They are not good enough to draw conclusion and you need way more than that to reduce biasi from a small pool of data. Furthermore the CP mechanics has drastically evolved.

3: You could say it has technicaly decreased as the number of player in a battle has gone down (16 max now, - less death = less crystals) the number of flags has decreased (10 > 7 > 5), and the duration too (15 > 10 > 7).

The thing is that, if they decide to do so, they will loose half the players including the buyers. Everyone love Pro Battles because it is one of the only thing left of the tanki's last years. It's not called Pro Battle for nothing, and if they wanted to get rid of those, they would already done that a long time ago.

Respectfully.

You greatly overestimate the amount of regular PRO battle players. Compared to the whole population of the game, they comprise about 5% at most. It's a significant number, but it's far from "half".

PRO battle funds are a serious issue for the economy because they allow players to customise battle settings in order to create the most efficient crystal-farming battles. This gives them an advantage and ultimately reduces revenue for the game, forcing developers to limit everyone in ways they'd rather not. By removing funds from PRO battles, the exciting competitive gameplay of PRO battles remains unchanged, but the exploit gets fixed.

Like I said in other posts, PRO battles are meant to be an additional feature that players occasionally use for fun, as opposed to an alternative primary way to play and progress in the game.
