The unhelpfulness of customer support

Ill keep this short. I wanted to change nickname of r_oob1 to (nickname). I checked if (nickname) is available and it is. Support replied and said that it is not available. What?

 

Also i replied to their email and didnt get a ticket number. I assume they will never receive my reply. 

 

Cant they simply automate this by giving a rename pass and make it shorter for both me and them?

Have you tried checking its availability by trying to register a new account with such a nickname? That's what's important and to be completely sure it really is available for use (and not checking through other ways by trying to send a friend request etc.). Also, nicknames must not be in violation with the game rules.

One time I tried changing a nickname, I already put in the nickname i wanted to change into, but then they decided to still ask me what nickname i wanted to change my account to.

I find that searching up the nickname in profiles also help a bit. If it comes up with a player with that name, then you'll know that it's taken, but if it doesn't find anything, then chances are that it's available.

Sending friend requests, searching in ratings, using /vote command, using chat etc. should not be used for checking nickname availability. Trying to register a new account with the desired nickname is the only way to be completely certain whether it can be used or not.

I'm not sure, I've done it multiple times and it seemed to work. Probably not the best way, but it is a way.

Why not just open the registration site? Same effort, and 100% effectiveness.

I already said i did check it. I am not that stupid and wouldnt make a topic if i didnt check already. Let me show you the email

Standard free form, i said how my nickname got changed and i want to change it to (nickname)

Combining this and 10 hour long responses from the support does no good. By the time they finally understand that it is free someone will take it then it will be my fault that it is taken.

 

I dont care about showing my email, it is not my main. No need to censor it
