How is the value of Damage dealt decided?

 Share

Question

As the title mentions, I want to understand what decides the damage dealt by any turret.... They look like random numbers, but the fluctuation causes many kills to slip away...

Especially for Railgun...

Since you are talking specifically about railgun, I'll explain only railgun.

The gun has a max damage and a min damage. Average damage is the mean of those 2 values. Damage of rail is based on probability.

Now the probability distribution of the damage is a bell curve with average damage as the peak.

So it is most likely for the railgun to deal damage close to its average damage(812 for mk3 ). It is very unlikely for a railgun to deal its maximum(1089) or minimum(535) damage(but it is possible).

Thumb rule is dd railgun can most probably one shot a light hull of same modification.

Double damage is easy to understand ... Imagine your smoky does 320 damage per shot ... with dd it will do 640 per shot. But this will reduce if the opponent has a protection module for smoky.

Also in some cases the distance from which your shooting matters.whatever the case the normal damage you do 2 your opponent will be doubled with dd. Keeping the distance and protection in mind

Yes, I understand how DD and DA works, but I want to know how the exact Value of the damage is decided...

Many times, despite using DD, a Railgun Mk3 can't one-shot an Mk3 Wasp with no DA or protection...

Railgun has a Damage range, but how does the Damage get decided then?

When will a shot deal 600, and when will a shot deal 1100? I'm not talking about DA or DD here...

EDIT: How is the normal damage decided?

So it's all programmed.... Somewhat like the mechanism of containers... Hmmm?
