Batteries?

 Share

Question

What point do batteries serve? Why do they exist? Are they a balancing feature? Genuinely confused.

Heres my reasoning: You spend crystals on weapon upgrades or hull upgrades, and you become stronger, permanently.

You spend crystals on a drone, and you have to keep using batteries to gain the benefit?

Batteries is a P2W feature that encourage buyers to spend money on the promise to be stronger than others. You see after a while all buyers have tons of normal supplies (via premium, missions, containers, ultra,...) and all the equipment already fully mued. So if you create a new equipment that require a new supply that will keep cash coming in.
Three points:

1/ expensive batterie that is spent every minute

2/ expensive drones to buy and to Mued with expensive micro upgrade

3/ drones that consume even more normal supplies.

Spending crystals on drone or normals supplies is the same, the more you use them the more crystal you get, crystals you use to buy more supplies. The difference is that with Drones you will spend more crystals and spend your normal supplies faster, then you will have less crystals for other equipment and less normals supplies for battles, but you will finish on top (till your money runs out) - what do you want?

F2P should spend as less as possible crystals on Drones and nothing on batteries:

1/ only use batteries they earned from missions and containers

2/ buy only drone that do not consume extra normal supplies and when discounted

3/ upgrade it gradually when 50% discount

4/ play with it when it counts (x2 fund)

Average buyer will do the same because drones are expensive to run, only super buyer can afford to play 24/7 with it, so it kind of limit its use.

You spend crystals on consumable supplies. It's the same principle with batteries.

I think the main reason consumables exist is because they provide a continuous source of revenue even once a player has "maxed out" their equipment. Once, ordinary supplies fulfilled this role. Now that supplies have become extremely easy to obtain even for free players, I imagine batteries have taken their place.

I guess it's also a balancing mechanic. It's possible to "nerf" a drone by increasing its battery usage (though this is the kind of nerf that really only affects players who have a limited battery supply).

@fghj240

Imagine you buy yourself a brand new car. Would the car run without Petrol ? or if its an electric car would it run without electricity ? Hence without the power source ( Fuel) its useless. This is the same cases with drones ... their fuel is the batteries ! Without batteries they drones do not work. Its simple as that.

The thing is, cars require gas becuase they aren't in a video game. Batteries however, were CHOSEN to be required by the developers. My question was why?

Supply item, used for operating the equipped drone. Does not need to be activated.

One battery powers drone with energy for exactly one minute.

Branded AAA-battery for use in field drones. It was debated if more energy-efficient batteries could be used in drones, but the head of the project insisted on these elements. We speculate, that these batteries remind the head engineer of a child’s dream long lost, a remote-control toy car, which he might have lost, but actually never had.

This is the wiki info ! Batteries are drone power source and thats it . Maybe Tanki wanted it to make another drug so people would spend money to buy it lol

This WOULD make sence, except for the fact that every drone in the game takes the same amount of batteries to use. And even of they made a more powerful drone that used more batteries, wouldn't that open the gate for more pay to win?
