The Asker should be able to Close the topic in the Questions and Answers section

Recommended Posts

As the title suggests, in the forum "Questions & Answers", whoever asks the question should be able to close the question, if he/she is satisfied with the answers. This will save the efforts of Moderators, who can then focus on more important things (like violations).

There is already a system of marking an answer as the "best answer", but still a mod is required to close the question. Hence, I feel that the asker should be able to close the question, once he/she feels that the question is satisfactorily answered.

They should be prompted to close the question once they mark an answer as "Best Answer".

Thank you for reading this!

Declined.

Without a Forum Moderator being able to make an answer the "best answer," any answers/replies in a Questions & Answers topic could range anywhere from being completely factual and true, to being false and based on conspiracies. Without an answer being marked as the "best answer," whoever is asking the question could be left confused, if they are reading each reply as a true answer to their question. For example, some player may ask "Why are crystal boxes not dropping in Legend rank battles?" and someone could respond with something absolutely useless, like "This game is bad, that's why," which is not useful to whoever asked the question.

For now, only Forum Moderators will be able to close topics in that section, as we feel it is the best option to clear as much confusion as possible.

I feel that the opposite should be done, that a topic should be closed mostly with the consent of the creator. Like many times I see players asking for help, and a link being given by a mod for contacting the support/ the administration responsible. After that, the mod marks that answer as best answer and closes the topic. It would be much better to have the player reply with a thanks/problem solved and then close the topic. This way, he doesn't have to unnecessarily create another topic for the same problem if the solution doesn't work.

Note: This only applies to problems that some player is facing; other types of questions can be marked 'answered' as they're now. Also, if the poster doesn't reply within 1 or 2 days, then the question can be marked 'answered' and closed.

What Nibbles said is partially correct, but the main reason is that it would be somewhat difficult to implement, without any real benefit. I appreciate that you value our (moderators') time and want us to use it more efficiently, but I assure you that we have plenty of time to allocate to monitoring Q&A topics, so we're perfectly fine with closing answered topics ourselves.

If you posted a question and are satisfied with a given answer, quote their post and say something like "Thanks, question answered" and that will be a cue for us to lock the topic.
