Posting Images

Recommended Posts

Posting images is the forum is currently very complex. Please make some changes to make it simpler!

Case-1: Posting images which have been cropped out of screenshots/ or the screenshots themselves.

Case-2: Posting images that already exist on the internet.

In Case-1, we have to first upload the image to an image hosting website, and then use the <Insert image from URL> option. This process is very tedious, but currently I see no solution to making it easier.

However, in Case-2, we should be able to copy-paste the image directly into the post-editor. It'll make things so much easier!

Another point, if we want to post an image from the Forum itself,(by that I mean, if I want to post the image of the Forum-Leaderboard, say, which isn't actually an image) then we should be simply able to use a feature that'll enable us to crop out the desired part, store it temporarily while we open the post-editor in the desired topic, and then post it.

To make this point clearer, suppose I want to post the Avatar of a Helper or Moderator or Administrator, I should be able to simply select it (by right-clicking, or using the above mentioned "feature") and then post it in the desired topic.

To summarize, posting images on the Forum should be made simpler.

Thank you for your time!

P.S. I may have got some(or many) facts wrong about how images are posted in the forum... In that case, please let me know, and I'll edit those parts.

However, the point is that posting images should get easier!

Posting images on the Forum is already as simple as it can possibly get. Existing images on the internet can by right-clicked and copied the image link from (which you'd then paste into the post editor, and the Forum would automatically embed/convert it into an image), or just dragged into the post editor. You don't have to go through any tedious manual image-inserting process (I believe you're referring to the old Forum engine, where that was required to do), other than simply pasting in the direct image link of the uploaded or existing image from the internet, from where on the automated embedding system takes over. For more information regarding posting images on the Forum, I suggest you check out this dedicated Help Site article.

@SHREYA88

In addition to the above, you can edit your images in the editor (e.g. reduce their size) by double-clicking the image after you insert it.

As for the second part, almost any image that you see on the forum can be embedded in a post. You just need to right-click it, select "Copy image address" and paste it into the editor.
For example: Forum_Admin.thumb.png.ee375db1b7b14f4a9b — I just copied the link of the avatar above, pasted it into the editor and adjusted the size. The link is:

https://en.tankiforum.com/uploads/monthly_2020_06/Forum_Admin.thumb.png.ee375db1b7b14f4a9bd991729b6451af.png

In this example the image is actually stored on the forum, but the majority of images posted here are stored on other sites. This is done in order to save storage space, because the forum simply adds a reference link to the image, which is stored elsewhere, rather than storing it on the forum's server.
