I want to know why the stats(Damage) of Vulcan is constantly being degraded.

Question

Hi. I've been playing tanki online for more than a year. Throughout this period i've noticed that the Vulcan turrent i had long ago (in Mk1/2) is actually very similar to my current Mk4 in terms of Damage per bullet. The creators have decreased vulcan's damage per bullet a few times. I feel irritated to know that due to another PATCH job, the turrent has lower than before damage (32) ( i wanted to touch 40 DPB(Damage per bullet) by upgrading to Mk4-5 or something above but now it requires Mk6 !!!)

Basically I spent Tens of Thousands of crystals Just for Decreasing my vulcan's damage

When they (creators) do a negative change to a turrent, They have to do a positive change also right (Eg: For reducing the damage of Vulcan while overheating, they gave a (not so compensating) ricochet effect). Why did'nt they do something positive to the turrent ??????

(I'm not being rude here but my favourite turrenthas just been continuosly degraded, seriously what can i do)

Game balance is an ongoing process, and there will always be changes happening to various turrets in an attempt to make them fit better in the game. When Vulcan was first added in 2016 (I think), it was an insanely powerful turret with crazy physical force that made light hulls impossible to control while under fire. Then it received a nerf, then alterations were added and it became powerful again when combined with certain alts, then it got nerfed again and remained as the least popular turret for a long time.

A recent update changed the firing mechanism from hitscan (meaning bullets hit the target instantly) to projectile, where each bullet has its own trajectory and takes time to reach the target. That was already a significant buff, but then hull augments were added and the combination of Vulcan with Heat Immunity became an unbeatable combo. This is why it got nerfed twice in the recent months, and, depending on how it performs, future updates may nerf OR buff it again.

Vulcan had become one of the most OP turrets in the game and upon many, many players complaints, it got a Nerf with the recent patch update. I can understand the frustration as I myself had recently upgraded it. But being on the receiving end, especially when the opponent had "Hornets OD + Damage + MU's", it was much, much more frustrating. Imagine not being able to use many other weapons due to one weapon being more powerful.

I wouldn't take it as a "loss" of crystals. Either way, you are compatible with other turrets and your MU's did not go to waste.

Moral of the story: Never fall for the Meta traps Tanki lays down. One thing that has been super-buffed will surely be nerfed a little while later, after it stops raking in money. Unless you're a buyer, don't waste your time and effort.

Basically, the story is, ever since the buff it got in February 2020 I think, everyone's been using vulcan, and with the hull alts update, everyone's been using Heat Immunity. So, vulcan was becoming way too OP, and it could absolutely shred any team. Half the battle I played were a full team of vulcans vs my team. So, after a while, Tanki Devs decided to finally nerf it, so that now it's not OP, and not quite as bad as it used to be.

vulcan was OP. it had been UP for a long time and was easy to kill as handeling vulcan was hard. then they gave it a buff wich was to huge. ive been trough the same with isida and schaft a long time ago. the next ballance change may buff twins and striker.

So with this logic - when does hornet OD finally get a nerf.  It's no coincidence 70% of those Vulcan's dominating were being used with hornet.

And now it's Shaft-RFM-hornets.

Developers don't really discuss updates with me do they? :x

I'm not sure, its been a hot topic for discussion but like every other helper, I am totally clueless regarding the status of any update or even if there is a related update.
