Tanki Helper Application Portal: Reviewed

Greetings, everyone! Today, I decided to review the new Tanki Helper portal, where Tankers of a variety of ranks can apply to different helper positions! These are my first thoughts as I navigate around the website. Let me know down below what you think about the website!

First off, I opened the website and logged in. The log in, as expected, was the same as for all Tanki platforms (barring logging into the game itself). After completing the Captcha human verification on my second try, I was greeted by the homepage, listing the jobs available and their number of vacancies. Overall, I love the streamlined look of the page, the easily accessible overviews, and (as mentioned) the vacancy counter. I particularly enjoyed the eSports background picture with the famed Aramid paint, which is the reward for eSports helpers who pass candidacy - I would even go so far as to suggest incorporating the special paints in each thumbnail, if possible. Anyhow, my only complaint with the home page was that the “Chat Moderator” overview was very, very long and looked out of place among the relatively short descriptions of the other jobs.

After inspecting the home page, I went to the eSports part of the website (naturally, because I did a short stint as an eSports Reporter). I really like this list of jobs where the red ones are closed and the green ones are open for applications. If any changes were to be made, I would suggest having all the open ones at the top, and scrapping the alphabetical order. That way, you can quickly glance at what’s open without having to scroll too far.

I decided to click on the eSports Reporter application for obvious reasons, and I was greeted by the screen which lays out exactly what the job entails, and what you need to have to qualify for the position. If it looks like the job fits you, you can press the “Submit” button, which is exactly what I did. Here’s where the magic starts; the first couple pages you see do improve visibility of jobs, but they didn’t radically change the feeling of applying for positions. This is where the new system comes into focus - the real update to the look and feel of the application process.

Since this was my first time on the website, I had the same experience as anyone else might have on their first time applying for a job. Immediately, I had to link my Discord account to continue with the application. I absolutely loved this part, linking was a simple click of the button, and took me to an updated page. This one is what you’ll see after linking your account: it’s a field to fill in all the answers to the application questions. This is absolutely stunning compared to the previous system, which involved copying the required questions into a new topic and writing them out there. It makes the application a whole lot simpler, and I’d guess that it’s a lot easier for the people in charge of approving/declining applications to see at a glance if the applicant is someone they may be interested in.

As mentioned, the application process is brilliantly easy and not hard to keep track of. I submitted my application to my old position, and I was then rerouted to screen showing all of my ongoing applications. If you navigate away from the page, it is very easy to get back - just click on your avatar on the top right corner, then click “My Applications”. It is worth noting that the limit for ongoing applications is one, meaning that until you are either accepted or declined for your last application, you can’t make another one.

Finally, if you check Discord after making an application, you’ll be on a new server called “Recruitment Tanki Online - EN”. On this server, you will have a single channel that you can see which is automatically created with the number of your application. You are not able to send messages on this channel, it is merely for receiving info regarding your application. If you are accepted, this channel will presumably take the place of DMs, so you’ll get a notification there instead of directly from the Team Leader.

And there you have it! That is Tanki’s new Helper application portal, and it is a tremendous upgrade. Despite the few aesthetic flaws that I pointed out, it is really a very good update for the application system. The sad thing is that I can’t keep using it, because it’s really quite enjoyable to apply for positions now.

I hope you enjoyed this little review, and, as I said, feel free to let me know what you think of the website in the comments on this article. Till next time,

- Initiate

Article Approved

Definitely a constructive review on the new site and reading this article was quite fun and at the same time very informative. The site is currently under beta, more positions as well as features that make it user-friendly will be added with time. Also, I advise you to make a constructive bullet point list of the mentioned ideas and give it to one of the head administrators, so that the ideas maybe considered.

Spoiler
  • Minor re-phrases.
  • Removed Newspaper tiles. They are for Newspaper articles only.

Keep up the good work. Good luck for your next article.

I hope I can get that Proofreader position on there but I probably can't because of this requirement:

It was suggestive of an editorial... ?

Oh, and thanks for the re-phrasing. I never actually read the article before submitting it, so hopefully that explains the deficiency in the writing ?
