Whats your thought about me learning muay thai?

Ive always loved martial arts and it was my dream to learn it. but due to age I never really got to learn it. But now im 12 (this 3rd may) and ive decided i will take up the art of the 8 limbs: muay thai.

Muay thai (pro- muay+tai) is a deadly martial arts which uses both the elbows, hands, legs and knees, which make up 8 limbs, thus the nickname. it has the 9th place on top 10 deadliest as of today. Ive decided to learn it. but it isnt this easy. first up i have to build myself up and become flexible else i wont be able to learn it. so right now im doing as many chores as possible along with exercise and spending less time elswhere, due to which im gonna be a bit inactive.

some info about muay thai is as follows

1) its not the best art for anti-bulling as you can..... well... kill the bully. like i said really lethal.

2) its style is offensive.

3) its principle according to me is maintain distance due to range kicks and also because anyone stupid enough to come close has to face devastating knee strikes along with strong elbows and quick punches.

4) it takes a balance between strength and flexibility as you need strength to make your hits count and block the brutal attacks and flexibility for the kicks

5) muay thai fights can get bloody.

so what do you think? will i be able to master muay thai?

Some of it may depend on your build (if you are short, tall, strong in a specific part of your body). Also would require a good sense of balance and coordination. I am an amateur HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) fighter with several years experience in the art. Although HEMA makes use of swords, pole arms, and other weapons, many of the same principals apply. (balance, strength, coordination, reflexes, etc. . .) HEMA  for instance requires a significant amount of upper body strength, especially if you want to fight with a heavier blade like longsword or polearms like halbreds or bills. It sounds like Muay Thai would require strength in all parts of the body, including the legs. Flexibilty is also important, and it sounds like you are working on that as well. If you are fit and strong, as well as coordinated, you should be able to learn the art. Mastering it is another thing all together, but I can't exactly call myself a master in HEMA either ?

yes it needs balance, flexibility and strength. however all parts is not necessary, but knees, shin, elbows and fists are exceptionally necessary as these are attacking points. also HEMA sounds like kalaripayatu from india (my country)

In the sense that points of contact need to be built up, that is defenitely something unique to unarmed martial arts. I know a guy who does Kung Fu who has nearly broken a finger before he had conditioned his hands to punch properly. My art doesn't require this because most contact is made with the weapons (except when grappling occurs).

There is other MA you can access at lower age. MT seems interesting, with they allow clinches.

For anti-bullying try Jujutsu.

I've found Judo to be very effective against most people who are attempting to attack you by hitting. While I don't know Judo myself, I have a friend who does. We've tried some mock fights with me attempting to swing or kick at him and it almost always ends with me getting pinned ?. Judo is good if you want to restrain someone but not kill or seriously injure them.

With Judo you need to get hold of your opponent, there is no punches or kicks. The fight on the floor is interesting. I started with Judo, till i discovered Jujutsu, it is more versatile and still hold some fundamentals of Judo.

Yeah Judo is just holds pins throws etc. . . I've found that getting hold of someone isn't too hard if they try to throw hands on you. I know a judo move (not it's name) where you grab the wrist of someone swinging a right at you and then turn your body around, get your leg in front of their leg, plant your hipin their midrift and pull the arm that you trapped at the same time, throwing them.

It would be more suitable if you could change the title to something more relevant to the discussion. It would attract more users. ?

I have seen this move In an anime. It looks awesome. It looked like the anime character was throwing his enemy by pulling the enemy on top of himself and then throwing the enemy down with a big 'dhummm'.

Lol that's pretty cool. I haven't watched much anime but what fights I've seen normally aren't that great (especially the swordsmanship ?)Nice to see that they did do something accurate.

Im doing muay thai for fun, not for anti bullying. i just told in description its not good for that. ans there actually are muay thai championships for kids between 13-15 so i guess i can learn it. and brazillian jui jitsu aint bad either, being on number 8 deadliest, which is one more than muay thai.
