Interviewing Chatbox

Hi, welcome to our interview meeting. We are getting to know more members in the community, so today i will interview a player that is not like others. Let's stop keeping the suspense and interview him.

sabry1.png Hi, What is your name?

unknown.png ChatBox: Hello, my name is Aron, but I prefer to go by ChatBox. I am more used to everyone calling me ChatBox on the forum, and I want to keep it that way. I feel real life should be kept somewhat separate from online talk, so I like the double-name.

sabry1.png How old are you?

unknown.png ChatBox: I am 16 years old from birth, but sometimes birth age varies from brain-age, or how much time is spent actually using your brain. Since I sleep about 7 hours a day, and I am absent-minded for a half-hour a day, I only use my brain 16 ½ hours a day, or %69 of my day, so my brain-age would be about 11. However, to properly calculate my brain-age I would have to calculate my sleep and absentmindedness since I was born which obviously is not the same as it is now.

sabry1.png Where do you live?

unknown.png ChatBox: Did you have a chance to check out my username? I live on the chatbox of course. In real life I live in New York City, which is also my portal to the online chatbox. My address based on my username is 123.

sabry1.png When did you start playing Tanki Online?

unknown.pngChatBox: I would guess around the summer of ’18. I don’t remember the date, but I remember vividly that I found the game from an ad on web Sudoku and the game looked pretty good. Not that I understood anything I was doing, I hardly knew how to play for a while. I even wrote my first AWS piece “The Long Road to Tanki” on my experience when I didn’t know how the game worked.

sabry1.png When did you start writing?

unknown.png  ChatBox: So I just mentioned when my first AWS poem was written. However, that was not the first time I have ever written poetry. When we first learnt about different types of poems and rhymes in 2nd or 3rd grade, I had quickly developed a knack for rhyming poetry. I often helped other kids complete their assignments since I genuinely enjoyed rhyming. At recess, I sometimes would write poems. In 5th grade, I won a contest in a local newspaper for one of my poems that I had submitted. There was no serious competition, and I spent many hours on that poem, but it was a win that got published. I wrote a poem when I graduated elementary school for a booklet my classmates gave out. So ye,s I have some experience, although it did need a little more work. As far as standard writing or fiction, I did read a lot when I was younger, and I have mostly written for the loads of schoolwork that piles up. However, I have a great thrill in good stories, so I end up writing a bit of fiction infrequently.

sabry1.png  I see you are a skilled writer of poems, and you have had a well-known series: Poetic Chat. How did this series come about?

unknown.png ChatBox: I don’t remember the exact details, although I still have the PM transcript. I had made a friend on the forum who had written some poems before meeting me. I had already written The Long Road to Tanki and I, while Cyber had written Thoughts. I was interested in collaborating with my new friend for the AWS. I asked to write a chat, where we would rhyme to the previous person’s words. It went pretty well and got published. I asked Cyber to make an Episode 2, but Cyber wasn’t interested. About a half a year later, I asked again, and we wrote as a chat in rhyme instead of the original rhyme challenge style. I saw that several newspaper reporters had commented on episode 1, and (somewhat sarcastically) offered to help. At the end of episode 2, I stuck in a paragraph that Poetic Chat is accepting new applicants. I reached out to Sacrifice and Person_Random, and we started writing.

sabry1.png So who owns this group?

unknown.png ChatBox: So at this point, I had heard of discord briefly, and I had set up an account, but hardly knew how to use it. So, Cyber asked me if I had discord, and when I said yes, Cyber set up a server. Cyber put quite a bit of work into it, and it came out pretty organized. By now, I have figured mostly everything out (thanks to Cyber’s explaining) and we keep on picking up a few talented members.

sabry1.png Could you briefly explain how your group runs?

unknown.pngChatBox: We have the server split up into different channels for specific purposes. We have a channel for discussing ideas for future topics, a channel for the ongoing episode, discussion on the poem. We also hang out there; as it is more productive when people are having fun, so it is lively. So yes, we battle together, parkour, randomly chat, as it keeps the place going.

sabry1.png What do you do to contribute there?

unknown.png ChatBox: I try to lend a hand here and there. (Sarcasm alert) I am always writing when it’s my turn in the episode, but mostly it’s my job to ping players and make sure there is a timeline on how things are running, to keep some level of accountability.

sabry1.png Do you have a message to give to any writers out there?

unknown.png ChatBox: If you have a skill, or something you enjoy, make the most of it. It ends up with a rewarding and enjoyable feeling, but you have to put in that first bit of effort. There is no need for other’s talents. Just be yourself and you can succeed.

sabry1.png Do you have something else to add?

unknown.png ChatBox: I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cyber for being this instrumental part of Poetic Chat, and keeping the server updated. I also appreciate @Sacrifice and @Person_Random, although I sometimes annoy them a bit, it really helps to have reporters who know the ins-and-outs of the AWS to smooth out all problems. Everyone else, who I won’t name in detail, knows who they are, and I know more than them how much of a positive impact they have on Poetic Chat. Thank you.

Thank you for accepting our interview, and thanks for reading this interview, our lovely readers!

Wow, Sabry, this was a pleasant surprise!

I loved that avatar!

And you can count on ChatBox to chat away like (crazy) he normally does, and increase the word count with minimal effort... XD

Purple is a nice text colour, it seems. It didn't hurt my eyes... I'll try it out sometime.

Great interview, Sabry! And wonderfully answered, ChatBox!
