I just don't want the blast to damage me. Even if the devs make it only damages enemies like the bomb of the Wasp. I would be happy with that.

It would be OP if the ball can heal so fast while the splash damage doesn't hurt the user and teammates.

I hope devs could consider to cancel the explosion, or the ball explodes only if it hit an obstacle after traveling a limited distance (the ball will disappear/fade out when it hit an obstacle beyond the limited distance).

I would rather have no splash damage or the orb will bounce around like Moira's orb in Overwatch, if it really have to be balanced out this way. Currently, it is impossible to use the orb in close range encounters as an emergency heal because the orb will hit the enemy and simply blow both of you into pieces.

so why the other guns does have 4  skins per modification? and when was this even announced?

I assume you joined the game not long ago. The game used to have 4 modifications only (MK0 - MK3), which each modification has a unique look (or "skin" as what you are referring). If what @At_Shin suggesting is true, then I believe the reason behind it is to reduce the cost and effort to create a new hull or turret.

Ok, I changed my mind. Ares's OD is pretty good, except for the splash damage. I wish it doesn't deal damage to Ares himself for simply remove it completely.

They're called M0, M1, M2, M3, and M4. M4 is a max MUed M3. Same look for that reason (between M4 and M3 I mean).

M4 or M3+, whatever you call it. It is basically a fully upgraded M3.

  1. it's M1-M3 wich some people call it M4
  2. it's good for reducing time and effort
  3. thanks for the information

I actually love Ares a lot, except the Overdrive. I can't use it in close range because the blast will kill me. I can't use it in mid to long range because the orb travels dead slow.

I wish the blast will heal me any allies and deal damage to enemies instead, just to make the overall "heal team mates, damage enemies" offensive support skill consistence.

I love its overdrive. I think it's really interesting, and quite possibly OP.

You just have to know when to use it. Make sure you're level and stationary, and fire at a group of teammates/enemies while also making sure it covers the greatest distance on the map. That way you have a chance to get some random kills down the line, which I did multiple times yesterday.

One of the most powerful strategies is using the OD as a mobile healing station when attacking or escaping the enemy base. The best example I could think of is Parma or Desert RGB — take the ball, aim at the other end of the map, fire the OD and just drive in a straight line, keeping up with your own OD ball (Ares Mk8 with speed boost has more than enough speed to do that). With 500 hp/tick constant healing, the only way you can die is if you get one-shot. So you just drive along, killing everyone in your way, and easily score a goal.

The explosion self-damage is fine — it forces you to be more aware of the ball's position, and more careful about where you use the OD. In fact, I think it should even get a nerf where the ball has limited damage/healing potential and/or doesn't heal the Ares that activated it.

If you think about it, Ares OD (BFG) is similar to Mammoth (AT-field) in its mechanics:

  • Both of them heal you
  • Both of them are a close range high damage attack
  • Both are mobile
  • Both have similar charging rates (I think)

But

  • BFG provides constant, unlimited healing (like the old repair kit on steroids), whereas AT-field is a one-time full heal
  • BFG can heal an unlimited amount of other teammates
  • BFG is a ranged weapon, whereas AT-field requires the player to put themselves in a dangerous position in order to get kills
  • BFG makes a massive explosion upon impact with a prop
  • BFG can last much longer than AT-field, possibly over a minute on long maps

The only advantages of AT-field over BFG is that it gives the player a speed boost and the player can change direction while using it. IMHO it definitely deserves a nerf, but it will likely stay as it is if the hull doesn't get popular due to its unique controls.

By the way, BFG also gets a massive advantage from the bug (or feature?) where you keep some OD charge if you die right after activating it. I've had multiple instances where I fire the BFG moments before I get killed, and end up with over 80% charge remaining, ready to fire another one 30 seconds later. Same thing can be done with Wasp, though I noticed it's much harder, and Wasp bomb isn't all that useful compared to BFG.

It is a totally different story in CTF.

Grab the flag, place the bomb and run for your life. No one will be able to chase you from the enemy base/ flag position since they spend quite some time to back off in order to dodge the bomb.

i agree with this point and devs must make it like viking/hornet OD get killed while activating and it's lost (or % reduced by half)

nah it wont work if there is a railgun with hornet overdrive and double damage but sometimes it does cause the bomb completely blinds people for 1 or 2 seconds.

and there is a low chance to dodge it by titan/hunter OD or hiding behind the building or under the ramp or use crisis additional speed and flee!

yeah its good but the only problem is impact force.

you mean recoil i hited the OD on the wall and i was near to it and then i find my self in the air so imagine if a light hull+ light wight alt next to the damage range of the OD (when hitting the wall)

I am so proud of Ares. When will the be a 50% discount on hulls?

50% discount is most likely New Year time. Maybe tanker days in september, might not be 50%, but it should be big. And if not, then wait for New Year.

I have noticed that Ares players can turn their turrets. Was this the last decision made by developers?

They said a while ago that the controls have been changed. You can now turn the turret either with mouse using mouse controls, or with keyboard like a normal tank, but only if you disable mouse controls in settings.

If you have mouse controls enabled and try to use keyboard only, you will not be able to turn the turret.
