The first two points is subjective to be honest (sound and drift). Plus, if you don't like to use Ares, just don't use it.

As far as the 3rd point, I have yet to see many Ares with close and short range turrets. In fact, I have properly seen it once or twice only (please not that I mainly play CTF, so using heavy hull with close range turrets as a defender is not something uncommon). After all, it is only slightly faster than Titan while is nowhere near the speed of medium hulls.

 

Also, I noticed you didn't actually give Ares a try (or may be you tried it using another account?). In fact, you didn't even buy it. I recommend you to buy the MK1 version of it using a few hundred crystals and try to drive it for awhile (remember to use mouse control). It is quite hard to control it to be fair, as especially when you are trying to go to the opposite direction of where were going initially.

ok what I would like to know and its not in the wiki

is if ares goes over a mine does it take the same amount of damage as a normal hull . or would it take less , seeing its hovering above the mines. making it trigger them off less times. I told you its a weird question.. and no I have only used ares a small amount of times. not a fan of it , maybe with more practice then maybe.

Ares interacts with mines same as all other hulls.

I want to say that Ares does not hover too high. The hovering height of Ares is perfectly fine. However, if developers plan to release another hovering hull like Ares, then the hovering height would need to be higher if it is a light hull. The hull's weight should affect how high it hovers according to gravity and height of hovering.

Ares is the dumbest project ever made in tanki. Its not much useful like any other hull available in garage and its overdrive is useless most of the times. The ball travels very very very very slow. And its worst when it comes to take the Gold Box. I've played enough with this dumbest thing and i am done. Never playing again with it.

That's your opinion, but for me Ares is one of the best hulls in Tanki Online. It is not true that Ares jumps for gold boxes. Ares hovers across the ground. It cannot jump.

What @Harry321  said is actually valid. Ares does have the advantage of being able to climb on top of other tanks more easily, and is harder to "shake off" once he's on top. I've already participated in some private events where golds were dropped, and I can tell you from personal experience that once you manage to climb on top of the other hulls (which is quite easy with Ares), you are basically guaranteed to get the gold.

On the other hand, the hull is slow and difficult to manoeuvre, so getting to the gold box in the first place is often difficult and/or impossible.

Ares can get stuck in some really stupid places... I'll add pics to this post in a few days..

Well you haven't used it yet, have you? When you do, give us your opinion. I'm interested in your thoughts.

I have already used Ares on the test servers before it was released on the main servers. Back then, I did like it. However, there were some improvements made to it when it was released a few days ago. I am giving you my true opinion. "I really do like Ares", despite any controversies that other players have about it.

I will only buy Ares when there is a 50% discount on hulls.

Uh, I hate to break it to you (actually not really), but I don't think even Ares will change my mind in how horrendous TO mobiles controls are.

 

However, Ares itself is an interesting hull, so I'm kinda tempted to test it out more on other low rank accounts.

Yeah, except the OD. For countless time, when I was trying to use my OD for emergency heal or burst damage, the orb often hit the ground and explode, killing both me and the enemies at the same time, since when Ares is moving in any direction, the hull will slightly tilt to the corresponding direction.

Yeah, thanks for sharing...

The point is, this OD is designed to heal allies, including yourself and deal damage to enemies, so you are supposed to stay lose to the orb to get the full benefits. And for some reason, it will kill both you and your enemies at the end, if you stay close to the orb? This completely defeat its purpose. I don't know which genius design this, but this is properly the worst idea they can come up.

 

"Let's make an OD which heals allies and damages enemies"

"Sounds cool, what about make it explodes so that it kills everyone at the end?"

"Wait, isn't it supposed to heal Ares himself? Why would it starts killing him all the sudden?"
