splash damage

what if turrets with splash damage had a mandatory safety feature that turned on if you where too close to the enemy that prevented the turret from shooting, so there was no self damage?

nah that's a stupid idea. adding another module that protects from your own splash damage only would be better. then of course take that splash damage protection ability away from regular modules. that way if you're such a bad shot enough to need this new module, you get punished by giving up one your three slots from the same splash damage turret you're using like magnum and the super thunder alteration it has, or gauss noobs that need to get as close as can to you to get their snipe shot off. or the recently buffed heavy twins. or uranium striker. and of course the common as dirt thunder with one of the shoot faster alterations.

It is pointless to create such modules that protect against self splash damage and not enemy turret damage. This is because most of the time, splash turret users intend to keep their distance from enemies to avoid doing damage to themselves. It is only when there is not really any another option that they deal a fully loaded Magnum shot into themselves.

You mentioned how players would "give up one of their three slots" to equip this self damage module but I disagree with this. There would only be a few instances in a battle where you deal self damage but realistically you will spend most of your time fighting against 2/3 thunders or 2/3 magnums in the enemy team, so it would always be more beneficial to take the module that protects against enemy damage rather than your own (even if you are not an experienced player).

As well as this, there is already a penalty (losing battle points/kills) in place in each game mode which should deter people from self-destructing. This on its own makes people who use splash turrets play more carefully.

 A Hull Augment is more likely to happens than a protection module. It has more income potential and a way to keep the containers full.

Splash damage is indirect damage like afterburn and used across many turrets and turret augments, which we have Hull Augment. This could be divided into 2 options: Resistance and Immunity - therefore 2 for each 7 hulls - 14 options (better than one Protection module option).

But as more turret are created, the protection module system with only a set of three becomes weak, and a fourth protection should be added. In a way the Hull Augment immunity or resistance are the fourth one.
