How can I send a gift to another player in Tanki?

It said when I ranked up I could buy a "thumbs up" but I don't see it anywhere in my garage, strange.

Gifts are available in the flash version only, so if you use the HTML5 version you won't be able to send gifts.

In the flash version, gifts can be found in the "special" section

I don't quite understand that. Before I downloaded the "HTML5" version, I was playing on a browser, I did not see any gifts at all available in the garage at all. Is there something wrong with my account?

in flash version in garage -> special section -->buy gift with crystals and send to ur friend

in html5 version also it will be developed slowly ...until the n u can use it  

I have to download the Flash version? So I have been playing on HTML5 this whole time and did not know it? So what is the point of clicking "Download" on Tanki's website when I can just click play? It runs slightly faster now that I have the "HTML5" version installed.

You were probably playing on the HTML5 version the whole time. The point of the "download" button is for players who prefer the client over the browser.

i see that everyone in the Forum has the old green and metallic looking main menu. Did everyone download the flash version? Also, people complain t hat HTML5 is slow but it is not for me. My computer is 4g of RAM so do those people's computers have less RAM than mine?

Download links have been replaced with the HTML5 one, you can still play on the flash version but It's recommended to play on the newer version since the flash version of the game will be discontinued from the first of December. Glad to hear you're enjoying the newer version of the game, Performance isn't totally dependent on the RAM and have other variables too. Regardless, everyone has their own Issues with the html5 version which isn't always related to ram but sometimes on the server side as well and other factors such as network strength etc..
