Did you notice that hopper augments such as heat immunity or heavyweight are of legendary rarity in ultra containers whereas all other augments for all other hulls are of epic rarity?

But this game is a drug-fest, and it is so unbalanced with OP turrets and Drones ( almost all Drones, but especially Defender, Booster, and Saboteur ), that there isn't really such thing as a skilled player anymore. Sure they exist, but it's hard to gauge unless the player uses something balanced.

Can't forget lifeguard in that drone list.

Thanks for supporting and defending players like me. Like I said before, Hopper is not overpowered at all. It is perfect. It was a little overpowered only in the special DM mission.

I agree with you that it would be awesome to start a new series of hovering hulls that can jump and fly like Hopper to make it more balanced and fair. There is no need for a new game for that, but only new hopping hulls with different mechanics than hopper. The overdrives would have similar but different effects than the Hopper overdrive. For example, instead of burning enemies to death, it would be a good contract to have another Hopper-like hull with a deadly freezing effect that freezes tanks so much that they are unable to move. The tanks would be come solid like ice cubes and take damage during the intense freezing effect time.

I've encountered a few Hoppers in CTF battles and they make life very difficult for bad teams

But its OD is daft; I cornered one and it just jumped over me plus stun & burn

I survived and manage to get a critical shot (but no kill) on the Hopper, but by the time the stun wore off it was nearly on the other side of the map (Highways)

Overdrive is interesting, at least it brings a new series of bugs to the game and exploits to the next level. Because of that some maps have been secretly changed so that Hopper can gain the maximum advantage and hopefully it bring up the hype (so that even players who have not played the game for over a month will still talk about it like he knows a thing or two) as well as the revenue.

hehe, Bugs and lag, lot of lag. 
Surprised maps changes are good, it is not the same as a new map, but it does bring fresh air, it reduces the feeling of claustrophobia of some maps.

There is no need for flying hulls.  This is a tank game not a space game. 

Go find a space game to play if you like flying hulls.

The thing is, this is a tank game, while those hover hulls do not even match the definition of tanks.

Is that a big deal? No. In fact, new game mechanism and elements are always welcome. The main issue is, there are tons of stuff most people will consider to have higher priorities, like bug fixes for HTML5 client. I mean, we all know HTML5 client is nowhere near production ready, while the Devs still pushing players to it without dedicating most of their efforts to optimizing it. What is this project management? I can't quite understand how this type of rookie mistakes can come out from a experienced team with some of the members having 10 years experiences of project management.

Developers made it clear that hovering hulls would bring a new mechanic to Tanki Online. Despite that, I perfectly agree with you that too many hovering hulls would kind of ruin the original gameplay mechanic of Tanki Online. Having two hovering hulls such as Ares and Hopper does not cause any harm to the game, but if more are implemented, then that would make gameplay hell for everyone. I agree on that point that you pointed out yourself.

I also agree that the new HTML5 version of Tanki Online needs to improve. That is to eliminate all bugs and make it perfect. Developers have to discontinue the Flash version of the game on the 1st of December 2020, because it is now too outdated and unsupported.

The project management of Tanki Online currently has 11 years of experience. I suppose that developers know exactly what they are doing, so they are doing their very best to keep Tanki Online at the top of gaming competitions and keep it rolling on and on with new updates and improvements to the game as time passes by.

Play defender in Assault on a map like Kunger with 2+ Hoppers as attackers and tell me it does no harm to the game.

Used to be able to defend ramps - not possible vs Hoppers.  So mines, one of the best defense items are not nearly as useful.

Developers just keep introducing game-breaking items (like Gauss EMP and Hopper) in order to make money.

Let me remind you that Alternativa Games have released 3 games across these 11 years.

TO: Launched in 2009, a legacy system

TX: Supposed to be the updated version of TO and initially planed to replace it. Barely made it to official release, then die not long after.

King Hardcore: A mobile game which is not even popular from the start. Now it is a dead game filled with bots.

 

3 projects, 2 of them are failures. Yeah, they definitely know what they are doing. 

 

All Alternativa Games has left is a legacy system, and they are losing it.

Well, not all game are successful. The only Alternativa game that is successful out of the 2 is Tanki Online. 1 is Work in progress. That's why it is still live and going.
