New tank hull weight class idea

Recommended Posts

So, I was a bit dimwitted when I first posted this in the wrong section, as I didn't scroll down and notice you could make a specific idea for a thread, and just thought all there was here was the linked threads. Anyway....

The actual idea: Add a new weight class, Super Heavy hull. These new Super Heavies would have a base top speed of between 3-3.5, and a base HP of between 3-4k (max 5k-6k, going on the basis of all hulls getting 2k extra HP when max upgraded), as they would need a hefty HP to stay alive, due to slow speed, and being even larger than the heavy hulls.

The first of the class would likely use Juggernaut as a basis, as that would be easiest to design and implement. Let's call this Juggernaut Junior. Other ideas for such designs would be welcome. So, what are your thoughts? Should they add this new weight class, and if so, how would you implement it/what would be your designs?

Declined

We don't accept ideas for hulls which go into the extremes on either side of the spectrum. What I mean is that hulls faster/weaker than Wasp or slower/stronger than Mammoth don't fit into the gameplay, therefore any new hull will only have stats within the current range. Now that hulls have unique overdrives and different movement dynamics, there is plenty of potential for interesting hull ideas that don't have to be super heavy or super light in order to be unique.

In other means, you don't accept any idea for any hull.

But I really didn't blame you because the hulls now are enough and its variety from light hulls and medium and heavy hulls are enough, I remember this sentence from 2014 and I agree with it

Seems like you are a bit misinformed regarding new hull development. Allow me to explain.

Before the big overdrives update of 2018 (the one that gave each hull its own unique overdrive), developers were not adding any new hulls because of the point you mentioned above — there was already enough hulls to choose from, and adding a new hull was pointless since it would be too similar to already existing hulls.

However, with introduction of unique overdrives and new mechanics like hover-hulls, it is now possible to add new hulls in the same speed/armour range and still keep them interesting by giving them unique overdrives and maybe even special ways of movement. This could be anything like upside-down hulls, sphere-shaped hulls… hell, there were actual plans to add a "spider hull" that uses actual legs to walk around. So, use your creativity and come up with something more interesting than adding more HP ?

Let's call this Juggernaut Junior.

Quoting my recent Newspaper article Juggernaut Over Terminator:

Quote

The name of the mode is also a slight point in favor of speedsters. If the mode is indeed about camping, then why is it called Juggernaut? The definition of Juggernaut in the dictionary is: “A massive inexorable force or object that crushes everything in its path”. If the main part of the mode is more the camping turret and not the hull, then call the name of the mode “Terminator”? If the whole purpose of the Tank is the armor of the hull, then call the mode “Iron Tank” or “Immune Force”? Only this mode was intended for using the hull as a weapon, which makes it perfect for speedsters. You can literally destruct enemy tanks in your path. So if you are camping and you are trying to keep your distance from enemies then you are no real Juggernaut.

So a turret on top of a rock is no Juggernaut.

no offense but i just had a laugh reading this. no one would use it and would waste even more game development time.
