Finally a decently structured poll about the migration process. I already voiced my personal opinion in other topics, but I'll say again that I've been playing HTML5 since March and I'm satisfied with its performance. It's far from perfect, but to me it was already better even before devs started imposing various restrictions in Flash.

The HTML5 issues I'm currently not happy with include:

  • Inability to check missions in-game
  • Somewhat confusing and illogical interface (only some elements, otherwise it's mostly fine)
  • Regular crashes — not as bad as Flash, but still annoying
  • Slower interface
  • Poor battle interface — battle chat and flag indicators
  • Broken Shaft scope controls

Also would be nice to have all missing features added, i.e. gifts.

Congo, a nice well structured poll!

Too many click to navigate through the garage.
the Protection module selection/process is as bad as Html5 and Mobile. So unfriendly that i end up with 2 modules in battle instead of 3 nad have to wait the full cycle to be able to select the third one again.
A lot less crashes.
Camera angle and motion still make me unease.
Client HTML5 garage load in battle is too slow.

No, HTML5 is good.

My problem in the HTML5 isn't a certain thing, my problem is the HTML5 completely, Tanki is a Flash game so I have a problem with "HTML5" word, no jokes.

The issues I mainly have with the HTML5 version include the following:

  • Physics changes - When parkouring, tanks seem to "stick" to walls and other tanks as if they are magnets; parkour scene will be completely ruined if this isn't fixed
  • Colors appear washed out/highly saturated - Simple fix and will make the game look tons better if done

Other than those issues, I love the HTML5 version, and I use it for everything other than parkour (for the above reason).

The Flash client is going to be discontinued soon. What do you think of the transition to HTML5? Will you stay or quit? Do you have faith in HTML5? Or is this the end of TO?

I will leave the game when the flash version doesn't work anymore. What I didn't like about the HTML5 version was:

- the game's physics has been ruined. Before it was much better

- Crystal kits (for non-buyers) no longer appear in the garage, only in the store, and it is RARE for them to be sold there. It's like getting exotic equipment in a container.

- An interface is full of details, poorly optimized animations, which slows down the game, loading takes a long time, etc ...

- The camera in the battle was ruined, you don't have the option to adjust the camera your way, just go up and down. It doesn't change anything, it's still bad.

- The gameplay has a delay, not smoothness.

- The game sounds have been replaced, they suck

- You cannot see your missions, crystals or number of stars while you are playing.

- The warning of the gold box is almost imperceptible, it should appear in the same place where it appears in the flash version, so that it is highlighted.

- The chat in the conditions is very big and hinders the game.

- Due to poor optimization, the garage takes a LOT of time to open while you are playing.

- The garage is bad, difficult to understand, you have to click on several places to get to where you want to go.

- The room creation interface has a design, difficult to understand, slow, and bad.

- In the HTML5 version, you cannot activate / deactivate details in the graph such as shadow, brightness, sharpness, etc ...

There are several other reasons why I will leave the game, but I will not mention them here as it is not the purpose of the topic.

I actully like the html5, however i used flsh for so long its gunu be sad when they take it away, the 1 thing that i dont like about html5 is that they took the options of going to ur missions in the battle. SO u cannot check how u are doing. However I do have to say that html5 is pretty good

I spend 90% of my time in HTML5, but I will be a happy camper if these things are done:

  • Shaft's aiming mode is identical to Flash. Currently the zoom is worse, and the scope sometimes is either too tight or too slippery (when you try to make small vertical aiming adjustments)
  • The graphics are improved. I don't know if you guys have seen this post, but the gist is that graphics (not the interface) and colors are dull and washed out, and certain things are lower-res in HTML5.

Most things I have troubles with have already been discussed, but here are the issues I want to highlight:

  • Shaft's scope-mode:
    • Aiming feels awkward and is way too sensitive, especially when aiming vertically;
    • FPS severly drops when the scope aims through  the new 3D bushes. I know this is a setting which can be changed, but such problems should not arise - the game overall works smooth even with 3D bushes.
  • It takes a lot of time to enter the garage/shop/battle-section from the lobby
  • Graphics and colours appear dull and washed out

I have to agree with wat @Mr.Nibbles said especially the colors of the game Flash to me looks way better, more lively IMO and if HTML5 was more responsive and not so slow i think a lot of players would be happy with HTML5 (They also need to fix the lags and and bugs in the game).

For me it's not about technology but more about business model. Flash represents remains of the game when company actually cared about players. Now it only cares about profit and that manifests throughout new UX design. E.g. everybody complains about inability to check mission status in battles. Well, it's by design to discourage players from leaving battles in the middle. Smart yeah?

Since I can't play on HTML5 in the Browser due to the strange drop from the usual 60 FPS to only 4-5 FPS, I downloaded the HTML5 Client and got a Windows Firewall warning. I ignored that warning by pressing "Abort", and the game keeps giving me a grey screen and then an error like this:

unknown.png

Once, I managed to join a map but then cast a "Cast error" and that "Map ID ... doesn't exist" or something like that. So, is there a way to undo the Firewall thing? I re-installed the Client many times now, but it doesn't help

Edit: Managed to allow the game to be ignored by the Firewall, still gives me that strange grey screen out-of-nowhere, which is why I uninstalled the client again. Can't play this way

So my thoughts are: The migration is not going well after the strange change in the Browser version

Tanki made a video about that you can check it ^^.

Yes, but I have Windows 8 and not 10, so I can't find it those settings. Also, the Downloadable Client should work, but doesn't, despite re-installing it several times now ?

Oh I see, you better write to developers of the game they will find a way to fix it.

Nvm, the Client is working now, and I hope it will stay that way ?

Load times, at least for the UI, are no longer a problem thanks to the latest update. These used to be one of the major gripes of HTML5 for me, glad they no longer are.

I logged in once using HTML5 version but it said “server error or something like that”.

Great job on making the lobby interface faster.  Previously it was mini-torture to click between Garage, Missions, Showcase, and Containers..it took forever especially if you needed to go between them a number of times.  It was one of the biggest problems with HTML over the very fast Flash.

Now, after after yesterday, the waiting between functions is minimal (OK, lag still happens to slow it down sometimes, but hey).  What a pleasant improvement!  It makes 95% of the lobby problems just disappear...poof!  It's a different lobby than Flash, but now it's just a matter of getting used to it as opposed to the lobby being highly inferior.

Now add Mission access from within battles and HTML will have become a viable substitute for Flash.  Good work devs!
