Medium Hovering Hull Idea

All tanks that are not hovering have wheels... They just have armored treads to protect the wheels...

Not to protect the wheels (that would be armor on the sides).

Treads are for two reasons:

1) Spread the weight over larger area (ground pressure) so tank will not sink into softer materials

2) For crossing obstacles/trenches - wheels might get stuck/have less grip.

I search for "tank legs", "tank star wars" "tank appleseed". I agree the laser technology (guns and saber) in Star Wars are completely fantasist, just like Freez and Isida turrets or BFG... :biggrin:
No matter what the dico says, the average population simplifies and owns the word, furthermore the word and the world will evolve as time goes by.
Look at the description of the game diep.io, and they certainly do not look like tank.

This came up with the search "tank with legs":

Freeze uses freons, which is an actual thing in the real world, Isida uses nanorobots... also a real thing. With advancing technologies, we can even have a real life Freeze and Isida. As for the BFG which comes from Ares, I don't approve of the overdrives, some don't make sense. The Hopper's jump burns all enemies around when a boost from the jet for 1 second shouldn't be able to generate molten hot heat, or even generate EMP's to disable enemies. If something that small could generate that much heat or EMP, the hull itself would be destroyed.

Diep.io is a 2D game meant to have simple, not too technical designs. It's one of those .io games that makes your character a circle. Like, Agar.io, Surviv.io, there's a similarity to those games and that is the design. You can consider Diep.io tanks because you got your hull, being the circle, and you got the turrets, being the barrels. As you get bigger, you get a little bit slower, but adding speed upgrades will make you faster. Stop comparing games to Tanki at random just to win an argument, they don't help your case.

The dictionary stays the same no matter what, how people tend to cope with new things being added to the word, they create new words, new definitions for said words. Tank will always stay the same, and like I said before, what you're looking for are mechs, robot, or hovercrafts which are not tanks, because tank's definition does not apply to any of those. I suggest you check out the Oxford dictionary arguably one of the most renowned English dictionary on Earth. Maybe you can learn some stuff on it.

BOOM! It is so ON !! Next Tank is called Crusader and it is a Medium Hovering Hull (as expected) with a special overdrive (not invisibility :sad:, but ?). All information about Crusader data here: Episode 281 of the V-LOG is live!

unknown.png

Let's wait and see where its speed stands in the range.

    Hull Mk7+        Speed            Class
Wasp 12.0 Light
Hornet 11.5 Light
Hopper 11.0 Light
 -  10.5 -
?Crusader? 10.0   Medium
Viking 9.5   Medium
Hunter
?Crusader?
9.0 Medium
Dictator 8.5 Medium
?Crusader? 8.0   Medium
 -  7.5 -
Ares 7.0 Heavy
Titan 6.5 Heavy
Mammoth 6.0 Heavy

 The hull do not look big, so IMO, it stands between Hopper and Viking, or in the middle (same speed as Hunter).

I hate the "Early Access" thing the devs are doing nowadays.

Striker and Magnum never had them, that's why I was so excited for their releases.

Whatever

The new hull is likely going to be released a week or two after the early access-bundle, same went for Hopper. So you wont have to wait long. Besides, people buying the "early access" bundle offer a chance to see if Crusader is actually noticeably effective in combat. I myself never buy items immediately after release, but for some it may make you decide if you like the new hull or not

As @Spy said before. The Early Access Bundles are pretty popular and a good source of income for the Developers.

While the hull may not always be balanced, those who see players who own something early, they would maybe want to buy the offer too, or just have more anticipation.

To me, I am a little biased. I think Crusader looks really weird and probably won't even care to upgrade it.

Hopper was probably more popular than Ares, as for Crusader, it would probably be in between. The Overdrive is not better than Ares, but speed and HP of a medium hull make it appealing. The one to buy it would be the one that already have played with an hovercraft, I don't think it would draw new player that still stick with tracked hull.

I was not questioning the bundle-concept, merely explaining how they are not bad per se.

I don't really care too much about this new medium hull, it does look a bit awkward but also neat in a way. I didn't feel anything special for the other hovering hulls before and after their release, but since I got an XT-skin for Hopper I basically ahd to buy it - have to say that I quite like it even though it is arguably overpowered

Ok, so apparently Crusader is playable in the Test-Servers as I'm speaking.

Looking at its stats quickly:

  • Its armor is 3000 - of course, because it's a medium hull;
  • It has a maximum speed of 8.50, which is the same as Dictators;
  • A turn speed of 90;
  • A mass of 3600, equal to Dictator, again;
  • A power of 1300, slightly less than Viking - understandable since it is hovering;

Nothing too astounding - I would expect it to be as fast as Hunter, but it's a testing phase overall

Viking 9.5   Medium

Flash test server version gives you a nice snapshot of the rank unlocks: none of them are in the existing medium hull, so it does not look like a copy past but the genuine ranks. So I think the other data are also what we would expect in the game.

Damage of the overdrive change quite a lot, not sure how it works, from 800 to 6300 (on Juggernaut). The icicle can go through several tanks and cause damage. You can get self-damage if activated too close to enemy tank (tbc).

Interesting to see, It is a shame that you cannot see the unlock-ranks at the HTML, or ar least the next rank till further upgrade.

I have tested the hull myself, but I have not dealt more damage than 3000 with its overdrive. Do you happen to know if damage dealt by the icicles is increased when using double damage, or even Booster? Also, do you still receive damage when having cold-immunity equipped or are these two effects included into eachother?

I mean, you don't really need to see it when you have to buy each mark level by level. You can also just check the Wiki.

Agreed, but it would be more convenient if a small overview was present in the garage, so that you would not need to switch tabs. I do hope that they update the garage a little bit, because the big grey background does make it look plain
