Lootboxes, sort of gambling in the upmost uneasy translation for the dutch and belgium law?  I think a warning should be enough to 'protect' gamers.

Don't know about Belgium but Dutch law states that any game using lootboxes needs to remove the lootboxes or make the items you get from lootboxes not being able to be traded on a marketplace of sorts (which doesn't apply to TO). But TO took the easy way out and decided that blocking IP's is the best option here. https://kansspelautoriteit.nl/onderwerpen/loot-boxes/

There are alot of ways they could have gone to still comply to the laws, like disabling the purchase of containers in the shop, as earning them from in-game events isn't a problem (Overwatch). Disabling the purchase of tankoins as a whole, as buying them from in-game currency you haven't bought for real money isn't an issue either (PES 19). The provided examples are for Belgium, couldn't find anything for the Netherlands.

Well , does not change a thing . Tanki decided that they will block Belgium/Netherlands IP , so now its time to go for a solution .

Tanki has been dying for the last 4 to 5 years and now they are going to discontinue the servers in belgium and the netherlands.

I think that the fact that they won't continue tanki because they won't make money in these countries says enough. Tanki is all about money nowadays and don't see their players as 'their players'. We're just their income and they don't give  about us.

Why blocking the WHOLE game for us? That makes 0.0% sense!

They should just remove the feature to open containers for players that are located in NL and BE. Why don't they just do that?

For example; CSGO. I'm not able to open loot boxes, but I'm still able to play the game itself. Why is tanki braindead to do it like this?

I don't care about this game anymore, we all know that it's already dead. But I feel bad for my friends who still play this game.

Tanki should shame itself to do something like this.

Please give me a response on why tanki blocks the WHOLE game instead of making it not possible to OPEN CONTAINERS.

For everyone who doesn't understand. All gacha games, meaning games with loot boxes, promote gambling, are banned in these countries. Kind of what Tanki has turned into.

I think I have a slight idea on what is happening right now:

It has mostly to do with events regarding the game FIFA, which also offers loot-items in the form of Play-cards. As the game is playable at all ages, the advertisement of loot-items may persuade children and young people to buy these. However, young players are not familiar with the concept gambling and can pay for these items till they hit rock-bottom. With FIFA, this was especially the case. Therefore, the dutch government prohibited such loot-items in games.

Tanki Online uses a similar structure, containers acting as loot-boxes. But since the game relies on these kind of payments, this change in governmental regulations  will have a lot of impact on the game - at the same time, EA is getting their main income from people who buy their games.

So whats likely happening at this moment: either TO is withdrawing from the Netherlands, because they lose a big part of their potential capital; or the game is banned by the government

Then again, I am not fully up to date with what is actually happening. Hence, I am still waiting for a clear answer from helpers/developers

so correct me if im wrong but say they decided to advertise this game at a higher age rage like 16 or 18 (not sure what the laws are for netherlands and gambling), then would it be all good?

The message from Tanki is loud and clear, if you are not going to pay them with real money, they don't care about you. Or maybe their incompetent team of developers can not write an exception code to hide the containers tab from the Shop in these specific countries, who knows.

Ok, so in 2 weeks I can't play this game anymore. To be honest, I don't really care at all. Because of this current ******ed experiment I'm hardly playing at all. But I don't understand why these incapable devs can't remove the shop from Dutch and Belgian players. I mean, removing the shop or simply banning 2 whole countries doesn't care at all for their income. But this is what they want, so be it. I just hope this whole game will die soon. Wouldn't mind at all.

I think the developers have finally found the problem of imbalance in the game with the experiments. Dutch and Belgian players are just too good and only see the rest of the competition in their rear-view mirrors. Experiment-solution: Kick them out ?

I started the game up by getting the notification that Tanki Online has discontinued the services of tanki in the netherlands and belgium from the start of 2021. Absolute disgrace of a game and it should be ashamed. I spend hours of work and some money in the game just to get thrown away. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!

Why not just removing the crates and gambling options from the game for us? stupid developpers not caring AT ALL about the players just about themselves.

This is why Tanki is dying and will be dead in 2021. Deserved.

Greetings.

That's exactly what I meant. It's just incredible how a game can not think about this easy solution (lazy developers).

But yes, this game is dead soon, we all know that.

@mjmj5558 @BloodPressure

But loot boxes aren't the only income of tanki. This is just one way to earn money. I mean u can buy coins, crystals, product kits,... U know what u gonna get if u buy it. This isnt gambling anymore..., only the loot boxes are illegal in belgium and the netherlands.
