Make your different "experiment" MMS settings the norm for different days of the week

As your different "experiment" MMS settings natually are each loved by some players and customers and hated by others, and the game needs variety (which for many years was an attractive selling point for Tanki, before you regrettably started to intentionally drain PRO games, a mistake you should reverse anyway) they should probably all be part of the game. However, it is not viable to offer them alternatively, as this would disperse the MMS player base too much, and it also is not viable to offer them randomly, as desertion from battles with unwanted settings would proliferate. So my suggestion is to make different settings the norm for different days of the week, like 6v6 on small maps on Monday and Thursday, 12v12 or 16v16 on large maps on Tuesday and Friday, 8v8 on medium maps on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, or the like.

Valid

I like the idea. I also like the idea of having other things on rotation, like game modes and map sets. Would be cool if one week was small maps, another week large maps, then a mix of both...
Something like that.

very interesting idea, but I think the idea of days of week would be an issue, because those who doesn't appreciate small maps will not like to play on Monday and Thursday for example. But the idea is very good, maybe a setting should be set where you choose which format would you like to do, which would permit everyone to have 6V6, 8V8 or 16V16 anytime

Maf, weekly changes might be another way towards the variety effect, though I think for several reasons that fixed settings for fixed weekdays were the superior solution. For example, this gives more immediate experience of variety, and it does not turn off players who really hate and would not play in a particular setting for an entire week.

Sabry, the problem with alternatives is that it disperses the player base too much. You would effectively have not 7 game modes but 21 of them, and waiting time for battles in each of them would become extreme. This idea might become viable one day, when game developers fundamentally change course and focus on enlarging the player base instead of squeezing as much money as possible from every existing player, but I do not think it is viable now.

It would be more practical and flexible to have all the maps size randomly available during the whole day: 6x6, 8x8, .... 16x16 (number of player to fit the map size).

The only difference in term of maps availability and number of players per maps would be dictated by the number of players online. It is known that queuing is increased when less players online and when with larger map (with more player sper maps).

For example the ratio of big maps (for example from 8x8 to 16x16) would be increased when many players online, and it will be reduced when less players online (for example from 6x6 to 10x10).

The system could adapt the number of players for a chosen maps, 6x6 or 8x8 at low peak and it would be 8x8 or 10x10 at high peak. Like this more maps to choose from and you limite the dispersion of the players base.

Most people more or less strongly prefer a particular setting, and many of them would immediately leave a battle in a setting they dislike, hoping for a setting they like better in the next assignement they click for, and the existing desertion problem would proliferate. So I think randomization is not viable (unless there were a severe punishment for desertion, which probably will not come, as developers still even shy away from gentle nudging by publishing a finishing quota on players' profiles).

A long time ago, when we chose out battle i would not mind playing different maps with different number of players. If this the price to pay to shorten waiting, i have no issue. In you configuration if players that prefers to play a certain setting they will have to wait a special day, then this is a no go for them.
If they don't care then both system is acceptable. I don't play at low peak, so I can't relate, but long queuing and large rank range in battle works hand in hand.

I feel like........

This should be a "weekend event thing".

Like every weekend, for 2 days (Saturday and Sunday), there will be a special gamemode available.

It can be like the experiments, where one weekend, the special mode has 16v16 games in large maps.....

And it could also incorporate past special events as well, so sometimes for one weekend, there would be an all-juggernaut mode availiable.

For example, the following could be used as "special event game modes" each weekend:
Weekend of 12/19 & 12/20: 16v16 Battles on Large Maps
Weekend of 12/26 & 12/27: Hopper-Railgun Only Mode
Weekend of 01/02 & 01/03: Double Hull Hitpoints Mode
Weekend of 01/09 & 01/10: Hornet-Railgun Only Mode
Weekend of 01/16 & 01/17: Terminator-Juggernaut Only Mode

And etc. The special event slot would repeat and cycle each weekend, or it could be random.
The rest of the 8v8, 7 minute gamemodes (Team Deathmatch, Team Juggernaut, Capture the Flag, Control Points, Assault, Siege, and Rugby) will still be available to play in.

Why do it every weekend and not every day? So that the matchmaking won't be so constantly thinned out most of the time on weekdays. But, on weekends, more people have the time to play Tanki so matchmaking won't be as affected if there were extra pools added.

Additionally, since the events are getting their own slot in the matchmaking, and will not interfere with the rest of gameplay, then no one would be bothered if the whole entire game was changed just for some event based on a previous experiment, and they didn't like the experiment initially.
