Hey everyone, welcome to Event Spotlight! This holiday, we had a lot of great surprises: a COVID-19 vaccine ready to go, early Helper of the Year announcements, and of course, amazing festivities. One of these little celebrations was created by a group of players who now run Quirky Events. Here’s a quick recap of their Christmas Events!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This Christmas, I woke up to a ping from a few of my Discord friends advertising a Tanki server about Christmas events. I wasn’t really sure what it was since I was barely awake and didn’t know much about events themselves. Then it started to blow up. I then heard how Marcus and Goges were in the events themselves and the events had a huge amount of players joining in. Later on, my French counterparts conducted an interview with the event organizers, and the attention they were getting was immense. In due time, I began recapping all about these events right here in this new segment: Event Spotlight. Let’s see what events they held during the holidays.

Let’s take a moment to familiarize ourselves with the events and get rolling on the recap!

These events were mainly organized by @Graphics, @Sylvian, and @Sylviana and received support from the CM @Marcus as well as @Goges, who helped with funding gold boxes and creating the battles. With the dedication from the event organizers and support from high-ranking admins in Tanki, the events easily became an overnight success.

But it wouldn't have gone all as well without the support of current Event Helper @MR.S_H_K_S_B_E_R, who guided the event organizers through the process of organizing and holding events. Only with such useful guidance throughout the process could the team bring the best events to the stage.

Here, we’ll be going over the events and the winners, but if you want to get even more information on the events and inside info from the organizers, then check it all out in our French Newspaper’s interview with the main organizers of this event! Without further ado, let’s get into this section.

Tanki Race

It is, of course, the fabled Tanki event we’ve all played in. Simply race around the track, stay on course, and be the first one to make it. Check out the course right here.

The first two runs were traditional Tanki race across this course, and six speedy racers took the prize: night_rider, sumedh3947, and nicksrage for the first run, and legendaryboi, Tiffany, and demaka_bavel for the second run.

The event organizers decided to spice it up with two juicy extras: the first variation included a few extra mines hidden around the track which racers had to avoid as well as an increased prize. In the first variation, the mine race, sumedh3947 took second again, accompanied with Rename and another player known as AbdulGhafoor on Discord.

Next up, it was a run-and-capture: players all raced to be the fastest to take the flag and rushed all the way back to bring it home. In the unfortunate event of a flip, another player could steal the flag, so players needed to be both fast and careful to succeed here.

Of course, given the highly competitive nature of the novel event, it was undoubtedly the most action-packed of them all. Three players managed to capture the flag: Referee, GiorgunaTankeri, and a-pr0-from-greece, who managed to pull off this tricky feat not once but twice.

Catch the Promo

If you’re familiar with Tanki events, then this event will be somewhat reminiscent of the Box Collector event, but only a tad tougher. Instead of catching the more common Double Damage supplies, participants competed to take the Repair Kits, a much more daunting - but rewarding - task: winners took home coveted promocodes. Players lined up around the depths of Massacre, and when time came, they flocked around the drop zone and pushed and parkoured for the marked green box.

Only a dozen of the participants caught the repair kit and earned the promocode. See the spoiler for results below.

Race For Gold

Along with Save the Gold, Race for Gold is one of the classics for player-made events - loads of fun. It was as easy as the event name implies: simply just wait for the gold to drop, rush across the map, and fight for the right to take the gold. Many, many golds were dropped at a time, leaving players racing across maps such as madness to In addition to the traditional gold boxes dropping, players also saw a few surprise containers falling from the sky, all courtesy to our wonderful Community Manager Marcus, bringing up appeal for the event.

Needless to say, it was a blast. Not just literally.

Tanki Quiz

Traditional trivia with a twist; this time, there are prizes for everyone. In this event, simply answer questions to earn points, which will go towards the gold box prizes. And for those striving to be the best and the fastest, another prize is on the table - promocodes. Perfect for anyone with a sharp mind and lots of Tanki knowledge. The questions ranged across all areas of Tanki gameplay and players raced to answer the questions the fastest. It was a tough race going neck and neck with the sharpest tankers, but in the end, Alsarbon and Judoai_Baltas took the crown with 90 points apiece. Click the spoiler to see the full leaderboard.
