Good day, everyone! This time I'm interviewing a special section of the Content Helpers: Assistants! Unlike most helpers, Assistants help around almost everywhere, doing various tasks to help the community. Today, let's find out more about their unique job.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Hello, today I'm here with @Seilah and @Levi, two Assistants from the team. Welcome! Could you introduce yourselves?

@Seilah: I'm Seilah, currently the administrator of Translators and Assistants. Right now, I'm a student at university, on my way to become a translator in real life. Getting to know different cultures and languages is what I have always been fond of and translating is my passion. I don't really have too much free time, well, except for summer, but I myself am an otaku. I like watching anime and reading books, especially British and American classics.

@Levi: My nickname is Levi and people in real life call me Levi too. I'm about to start my first year in college. My hobbies are 3D designing, a bit of coding, and technical stuff. I'm an otaku (that's where my name came from) and I like to watch DC and Marvel movies.

Nice to meet you! Glad to have you on board. I'm wondering, how did two otakus become avid Tanki players?

@Seilah: I started playing Tanki around the summer of 2010-2011 when the game was much more different than its current state. At that time, I had a bored neighbour and father who found this game and we played together. After I started liking it, I wanted to try it at home and registered my account.

@Levi: I started playing Tanki around 2014 when a friend told me about it and I decided to give it a shot.

Amazing stories. Tanki sure travels by word of mouth, and many players are here after watching a close friend or family member play. But how did you two find out about helper positions and eventually make it to the realm of helpers?

@Seilah: To be honest, I never intended to become a helper, but look at me, I'm the admin now. Due to my studies, I disappeared from the game for almost four years. Then an old Tanki friend of mine contacted me and told me that I could become a helper. I wasn't against the idea, so I accepted the advice. It didn't take long, and I was accepted into the Event Helper team. I spent around 9 months in the team, then due to my studies, I had to leave the team. At the end of June, I got accepted into the unofficial V-log Translators team. After M4j left, @Levi took care of the team, but he had to leave his position and he left everything to me. Later, in April, I became the admin of the new teams. We at the Assistants and Translators team would like to thank @Defender for his help and work for the team.

@Levi: I decided to become a helper when I saw a helper for the first time with the Helper paint and he looked so cool ( and OP ? ) so I started asking him some questions about the paint. I started looking everywhere and found it on the forum. I applied many times for many different positions but always got rejected due to low knowledge and to be honest, that was true, until January 2019. I got accepted for the first time as an Event Helper and finished my candidacy period in 20 days and became Helper of the Month because of my hard work. Soon after, I also got accepted in the unofficial team for V-Log translators.  Around June, I got promoted to Event Organizer and I also got accepted as a Facebook Moderator; sometime later, I became the leader of the V-Log Translators team and decided to make a new team called the Translators team. After a couple of months in February 2020, I decided to leave my positions and left my leadership of the Translators team to @Seilah but stayed as a Translator since it doesn't require a lot of time due to not being available and exams. Around April, Seilah made the team official, so I became an official helper again and I'm still one.

Wow, talk about two amazing journeys. I'm glad that you two have found positions that you are passionate about and enjoy. Now let's answer a burning question from our dear readers: What exactly does an Assistant do?

@Seilah: As an Assistant, you can really get anything as your task. Our fixed task is answering Google Play reviews. Besides that, we're dealing with spreadsheets, documents, comments, any anythings else that a Helper requests.

@Levi: Actually, I can't give you a clear answer, because our job is not something we even know; we can get any task any time. A helper can request help in anything connected to the game. For example, the contests team can request help with reviewing entries if they have a lot more than they can handle, the events team can request some helpers to help in events if they need, other helpers can request help with spreadsheets or documents. Currently, we do have a fixed job, which is answering Google Play reviews.

So basically this team is a jack of all trades: when helpers need assistance somewhere, you are ready and here to help. Does this mean you can write my in-game alerts? But this must require a lot of skill because you need to be ready for any task that the helpers throw at you. As seasoned members of the team, what do you think are the qualities that make a successful Assistant?

@Seilah: I would say you have to be persistent and hard working. You may not succeed in everything the first time, but if you don't give up and learn, you can accomplish anything you want. Of course, all personality traits aside, you have to be talented, have specific skills and knowledge, and have experience.

@Levi: Hmmm, well, one must be someone creative, diligent, and talented, so he can know how to finish the task in the time that the requester has given.

I'm getting the idea that the job may be a bit strenous, given that one must have various skill sets and be willing to learn. However, being an Assistant must be rewarding as well. What do you think is the best part about being an Assistant?

@Seilah: The good and friendly environment. I think we have a good team and no one feels tense, even though we are a new team. If anyone needs help, we will help each other. When we get a task, we have to finish it as soon as possible, so we get to know each other really well through these experiences.

@Levi: Flexing with my paint xD jk. Yeah, it's great to be working in a good team and helping people when they are in need.

That's great! It's good to see that this new team is very cooperative and helpful. There are many players out there who I know that are looking for a helper position; what sort of players would you recommend this position to?

@Seilah: I don't think your previous position matters. Our team is divine: we have Chat Moderators, Event Helpers, eSports Helpers, but everyone does their best and they succeed. What we expect of an Assistant is working hard, having some skills, and having an area where you can work confidently. Having ample free time, while it is useful for many positions, doesn't mean you will be able to do your work properly as an Assistant. As I highlighted many times, you need talents, skills, and persistence, among many others.

@Levi: If you think you're talented, creative and can learn how to do some task fast, then we need you. ?

Awesome! Any final tips for someone who is applying to be an Assistant?

@Seilah: CHECK the application form properly! Basically, you can find all the information there. To me personally, the main factors I look for are how you apply, the amount of information you provide, how well written your form is, and of course, the things you are good at, personal traits.

@Levi: Make sure you write down all the skills you have as it is crucial to know what specific abilities you have as a potential helper. Even though you might think these are basic skills, anything you know can be useful when you are an Assistant. ?

Thanks for the tips! If you would like to apply, look here. But don't leave just yet; we have a few extra questions with Assistants team Administrator @Seilah. As an administrator of the Assistants team, what added benefits and responsibilities do you have?

@Seilah: I could get a taste of how to lead a team, though I'm still learning. The main responsibility of being an administrator is being responsible for every member of the team, listening to their problems, and finding a solution to them.

As a newly established administrator myself, I truly resonate with your views. Administrators do in fact have just as many tasks laid out for them; it's just that many helpers don't see them. However, there's one that's very visible: further developing the team they are in charge of. What plans do you have for further developing the Assistants team?

@Seilah: Of course, we would like to make the team bigger and have more tasks. We will proceed step by step and head towards our goals. One of our larger goals is to provide information to players in as many languages as possible.

Sounds great! Best of luck on getting there. Now, I have one last question: What do you look for in potential applications?

@Seilah: Well, I have mentioned part of this above. When you apply, you have to make a good impression, have a clean karma, talk in a polite way, and overall, have a good image. Anyone who meets the requirements will be taken into consideration.

Great, thanks for the information!

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

And that's it! I hope you've learned a lot more about the Assistants team. If you think you have the skills and can make a mark on the team, go ahead and apply! See you around later!
