I'm uninstalling Tanki (but for the last time)

Throughout my whole history in this game, I have uninstalled Tanki countless times. Maybe because of me playing especially bad at one day, or just because of teammates. But this time, it's because I'm getting sick of this.

In the end, I have wasted almost 9 years of my life in Tanki. I have witnessed many great additions in the past, the new HD models are also looking very good - it's exactly what Tanki needs, in fact. But the core problems haven't been fixed to this day, and I am afraid that they never will be.

What are the core problems? That's probably personal preference. One might say that it's bad MM, etc. But in my opinion, they're more going in the (obvious) direction of lag, bugs, balancing, hacking - and how this is being developed.

Honestly, the game is lagging so bad lately that I can't even distinguish lags/bugs from hacks anymore. Literally nobody is getting recoil in XP/BP battles, people are just driving through you (some abuse it) - making blocking impossible, then there's the random moments where people just either teleport or start spinning on the spot...

Why is this? Because the servers are pure pain in the a**, like they have always been. The ping doesn't really matter. It's so bad that it feels like having a good ping is disadvantageous. Will these lags ever be fixed? Who knows. But I'm surely not going to be around by then.

Then there's the other thing, the development. Each time I'm looking in the patch notes I'm just disappointed, as there are literally no big additions, only smaller ones which you can't even notice in game. Yes, the HD models are big additions, but the amount of time they're needing to release them all is becoming ridiculous. Changing all skins to Mk7s was a cool idea, as in the next weeks we will see each tank in new HD textures! I thought...

But where are we now? A month in after the first model was released with only a second one being announced. This is way too slow pace, in my opinion. Why even releasing them one by one? Why not all at once, even if it takes longer?

HTML's GUI is also a catastrophe. I wanted the new client to be an upgrade, not a downgrade from the old one. Everything looks so crammed in, rushed, complicated and just unfinished. Making changes to the GUI would be SO easy and it would help the game SO much... But what is being done? Nothing! Yes, it will be improved in the near future. But why do we always have to wait? Can't a finished product be released for once!?

The next point is balancing. It's horrendous how this game is being balanced, in my opinion. Things are ridiculously overpowered at their release (Magnum, Hopper, ...) and NOTHING is being done for MONTHS. EVERYONE is complaining about them but nope, let's release new paints!

Why can't things be balanced more frequent, one by one, instead of rebalancing the whole f... game at ONCE in ONE update? Turrets are literally being reworked instead of the devs even trying to balance them. I mean, look at Isida. It used to be such a unique supporting turret, and what is it now? Just the regular short range turret with one special ability, like all of them. And why? Because of them failing to balance it. Instead of nerfing the self-healing slowly, it's first been nerfed by -50% in one update making it COMPLETELY USELESS! Sorry folks, that's not how balancing works.

Slow development and balancing are the things that are triggering me the most. I get the lag one, there's not much the devs can do about it, especially not when you let Brazilian and Russian players play together on the same server.

I have been waiting for so long for decent changes, like GUI updates, actual balancing or something new on the anti cheat system. Is the anti cheat system even a thing nowadays? I remember the devs talking about it in the past, is anything even being done against hacking? Why is noone talking about it?

Generally speaking, I'm not having the feel that the game is going upwards. It's going downhill, at full speed.

That's not even everything I have to say, I'd also like to talk about how updates are being announced, tested and so on, but honestly, who cares. Not that something will be changed. Sorry for my bad English, btw. Should be readable tho, I guess.

With this post I am done playing Tanki, it's been a wild, weird ride. I'm uninstalling it for a last time and have officially wasted 9 years of my life. gg.

I understand your pain of having lags. But you shouldn't leave just yet, or ever.

Lags will come right now. You can try to uninstall and reinstall from time to time for a chance of better performance, but it could still lag.

I used to have A LOT of lags too on both Flash and HTML5, from time to time. Whenever they came, I thought of quitting for the day. But the performance was better later on.

However, since we moved to HTML5, we were told by the Tanki developers in the V-Log, that they will be improving the game faster now. They went slower before because they had to update for both HTML5 and Flash. Now they'll improve more efficiently.

We just need to be patient and wait for more awesome updates and less lags from the developers.

They know that lags can happen because they also test out everything at the company before releasing. Also, they test gameplay daily, as well.

We do get update Patch Notes only monthly but I believe this is because developers want to test everything before release. They can only do so much in a day. They need time for coding, checking for errors, and they need breaks. (On Instagram, I saw how they were taking a break and playing with a fire extinguisher.)

They also want to keep everything organized and release the items in order. They want to make sure the current things we have are not too overpowered, or hurting the game.

I feel as HTML5 looks nicer than Flash. Flash looked kind of old and simple. HTML5 looks more in this time period.

Also, the game will become more better visually as tankers want it.

They do seem overpowered, but everything has a down side to it.

Magnum is strong, but everyone starts off with a vertical rotating turret. Only some tankers will have the horizontal one. Also, you can simply use a Protection Module for Magnum for more comfort.

Hopper is annoying with its Overdrive. However, you can use Heat Immunity Augment to help with one of its effects. Hopper also is a Light Hull. So even before it does too much damage on you, only a few shots can destroy it.

People are complaining, but others are finding ways to deal with each situation, and continue having fun.

The developers think a lot with every idea they update because they want to make everything balanced. If it is not balanced, they alter it. If they don't think it's necessary, they do not. We just need to admire what we have, because it's nice to have these new things rather than not having them before.

The turrets were balanced better. Isida used to be able to heal others, do quite some damage, AND heal itself so survive longer, without needing to use Repair Kits.

With the balance, Isida can still heal, but the self-heal is removed. But also, its damage is increased more than from the past! This makes it pretty balanced in my opinion.

Also, we have Augments where you are able to deal less damage, but heal more. It's one or the other that we can choose, and this is balanced for all tankers.

Don't leave @Son_Goku

Not everything is good about the game, but we will get better.

You should continue to have fun in the game, and on the Forum. Plus, you can do other activities, not in the game, like take part in Contests, give your Ideas/Suggestions, play Forum Games, etc. This helps me to feel better when I'm angry with lags, and bad updates.

We will improve with time. Please be patient with us, and be here to experience the changes. Please and thanks!

Since I don't know how quoting like you just did works:

To 1)

I think you don't get what kind of lag I mean. I've never had any FPS lags or such, the connection is the main problem. Part of the problem is that we're playing together with people from across the f** OCEAN on the same server. By the way, Tanki is like the only game I know that is doing such a thing. Having players from such huge distances playing together results in connectivity issues, e.g. bad gameplay.

To 2)

If they are testing any of the updates, they're failing horribly. I know how coding etc. works, no need to explain that one. But you can't disagree that they're WAY too slow at releasing stuff.

To 3)

How can you say such a thing? Flash looked, like you mentioned, simpler. It was easier to navigate. Everything you needed was presented at once. On HTML on the other hand, it feels like everything would be hiding from you. Navigating is way slower and it's way too complicated. The loading screens look worse, garage looks worse, creating a battle is more complicated and it doesn't look good, the battle list doesn't look good... It's just unfinished. What I also dislike are the small things, for example in the graphics settings. If you hover over let's say "Dynamic lightning", all it does is saying: "Enables dynamic lightning". Why isn't there a short explanation on what is going to change if you enable it? Like, just a short explanation, what dynamic lightning is? Would be so simple...

To 4)

You know, if you look at other games - after something is being released, it's being tweaked during the first couple of days/weeks to balance it out, as testing it isn't enough. Exactly this step is taking Tanki months, completely ruining the game's balance by introducing just a turret and not balancing it out. Talking about unfinished stuff... when Magnum was released, protection against it wasn't. ?

To 5)

What you just mentioned completely removed Isida's uniqueness and made it a regular short range turret. They didn't balance it out, they reworked it. They had to rework it because they failed balancing it out. Why not keep the self-heal and reduce the damage being done? Isida would be both unique and it would have an own play style. It wouldn't be the regular short range turret then, which is designed to deal damage. It would be a one of its kind supporting turret.

To 6)

I have been patient for years and nothing improved. All that has been introduced is gambling and more stuff to make you OP against non-buyers, no lag fixing, no bug fixing, nothing about the anti cheat. In this state, I'm definitely not going to have fun, hence me leaving. I'll stick around in the Forum tho, don't worry. ?

Honestly, a good decision, and one I'll probably make very soon too

I wish you the best of luck in everything you endure outside of Tanki, and I hope you can find tons of success in your near future!

Sorry dude I would post a long agreement message but I noticed the esports team was looking for commentators, broadcasters and video editors and thus it is much more important that I give them my attention instead of reading the title.
