Indicator of typing in chat?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I think there should be some sort of indicator next to your callsign in a match, indicating if you are typing in chat box. Many times, I have tried to type in the chat during a match, and gotten killed many times, while my tank was frozen and defensless. I know tanks with this hypothetical indicator would still be vulnerable, but perhaps gracious enemy tanks might show some mercy?

I don't know. This sounds like a kind of stupid idea, but what do you think?

And what exactly would such indicator do? You seriously think that in the middle of a battle someone would hesitate to get a frag, some points and potentially some money by destroying a sitting duck who is silly enough to be typing?

O rly? http://tinyurl.com/48eaq2s And btw, you have a few punctuation errors and a spelling (or grammar, unclear) error. Do not teach if you've not been taught yourself. Fail.

Ok I understand where you're coming from. But sitting ducks are sitting ducks. Why would this indicator have any sort of protection? Just because there is an indicator, doesn't mean that it will cause people to suddenly be so dumb as to start typing right when they're about to get a flag. Apparently, you never type when you play, but others do. This indicator simply might provide some sort of feedback for other players as to what their teammate is doing.

Once again, you fail to explain how this indicator will make a difference. A sitting duck is a sitting duck, with or without a flashy badge that indicates it.

2.0 will have integrated chats too, chat will be independent of battle. But still, you can tell that someone isn't playing without a badge that says so. So far I fail to see a reason why alternativa should divert programmers from more important issues to make this happen.

How? If they leave and never come back?

i dont agree with and indicator.

no rules to war.

i and many others kill chat ducks or people upside down or on thier side.

if you really wanted protection the only feasible way would be to ghost when chatting but this would be abused and i do chat when i battle but i wait till i respawnfrom death or i find a somewhat safe place to chat stategy.

If you leave, you're out of the battle anyway. If you do nothing for over the pause timelimit, you get kicked out of battle automatically. Try it, go into a map and don't press any buttons for a few minutes, you'll see what happens.

I know, this has happened to me when I left to go do something during a battle. About the indicator: I think it would simply be nice to have for your teammates as sort of an interface, to get some feedback. Not as much for your enemies. It won't really change the physics of the game, just a nice flashy indicator blinky thingy.

So far, the only people who have really contributed to this topic are therussian and Superkid. Does anyone else have a take on this? (sorry about the double post. Just realized it.)

I totally agree with TR. I chat in battle but I don't care a bit if I get killed: I deserved it, almost. There is no need for indicator whatsoever, no need at all.

If you want to go down that lane of "no need", then there is no need then for chat at all. What's wrong with this idea? How hard could it be for programmers to make it so when a player is typing in chat, a little red dot or something appears next to his callsign. Or maybe, on the chat box to the side, it will say if player XXXX has entered text or something.

because it is not significant enough.

say you do get a symbol to appear just like the drug icons that show when a layer drugs, no one is gonna stop shooting you if anything they will all shoot at you now. if you in a team death match and this happens and you cost youre team the win beacuse you were typing they will now kill you too. same if youre typing and flagger passess by but you dont see him because you were typing. this is what everyone means. and programming even a small thing would divert programming from 2.0 more than likely so this isnt significant enough for that.
